Rat In A Trap

Roan was confused for a second then gathered her senses and tried shoving at the mesh with her paws and claws it cut into her pads making her yelp around the sword in her mouth. She growled and started wigging around. That didn't help as the mesh cut into her flesh. “I'd stop while you are ahead unless you want to be cubbed.” A rough voice says from beneath her. She turned her head towards the voice and hissed around her and growled. “I know you aren't some common tiger.” the woman says flatly, placing her hands on her hips. Her grey eyes met Roan's amber. Roan huffed and turned back to her human self glaring at the woman. The woman whipped her head to a man slowly approaching and snapped at him “you expect me to believe that this child caused the destruction of the village back there?" Her voice is cold and sharp. The man panted, sinking to a sitting position. “I saw her with my own eyes walk out unscathed.” He says turning his green eyes to Roan looking her up and down. “I am not a child.” Roan says firmly. “That was my village and I was hunting when the dragon shifters came.” She says with a bite to her voice. “Dragon shifters? You sure?” The woman says turning back to her shoving a hand through her short messy hair looking pensive. “I saw them in the air leaving after smelling the smoke. The fire is magic and I obviously can't make fire.” Roan says, rolling her eyes. Everyone knew shifters and werecreatures only had one other form besides their human side. “Right, where is the sword from?” The man says with a sneer as he stands up and approaches the net. “My father forged it; he was the blacksmith of the village.” Roan says, narrowing her eyes at the man, a soft growl in her throat at the accusations he was suggesting. “Knock it off, the people died from the fire not a sword, besides the only blood on her is burnt and dried. It would have been a little fresher and starting to dry if she had cut anyone down.” The woman said with a sigh and made a hand gesture. Roan found herself meeting the earth with a thud that knocked the wind out of her. As Roan catched her breath the woman approached her and Roan felt herself tense getting ready for a fight. “Just stay still or you are gonna look like you ran through a prickle brush.” The woman says softly squatting down reaching for the net. “Now if you don't try to run we will take you to the village and you can eat and rest there.” she says, taking a piece of net in her gloved hand. “Why should I trust a mercenary like you?” Roan spat her eyes falling to the scar on her arm just above her elbow. The woman sighed softly, giving a shake of her head. “Well the village ahead is mine, I have had nothing but kindness from them. So I will protect them.” She says her jaw is set in a hard line as their eyes meet. Roan relaxed and nodded slowly, gaining a smile.
