The overwhelming flood of sensations that nearly drowned me earlier has settled into something softer now, something I can almost understand. The air no longer burns in my lungs with every breath. The scents around me—earth, trees, Orion, Lyra—still feel vivid, but they no longer crash into my mind all at once. Instead, they drift gently around me like whispers. I sit on the grass behind Orion’s house, watching the light of the afternoon sun filter through the tall trees that surround the ruins in the distance. My ruins. The thought still feels strange.
