surgery successful

The doors of the operating room finally opened after what felt like an eternity. Alessandro Valentino had been standing in the hospital corridor for nearly four hours. He had not moved from the same spot except to answer the endless calls coming from the Valentino estate. His wife, Isabella, stood beside him with tears in her eyes, while Talia's brothers occupied the rest of the corridor. Nobody spoke much. Everyone was waiting for the same thing. News about Talia. Finally, the surgeon stepped out. Alessandro immediately walked toward him. “Doctor?” The surgeon removed his surgical mask and gave him a tired but reassuring smile. “The surgery was successful.” For a moment, Alessandro simply stared at him. “She’s alive?” “Yes. We managed to stop the bleeding and repair the damage. The knife missed the major organs by a very small margin.” Isabella covered her mouth as tears of relief rolled down her cheeks. Alessandro released a breath he seemed to have been holding for hours. “Can we see her?” “Not yet. She needs to recover from the anesthesia. But she's stable.” Alessandro closed his eyes. “Grazie, Dio.” His eldest son immediately hugged him. “She’s okay, Dad.” Alessandro nodded, unable to hide his smile. “She’s okay.” The news spread through the Valentino family within minutes. At the estate, servants who had been waiting anxiously finally relaxed. Talia's brothers called relatives and close family friends to tell them that she had survived. The atmosphere that had been filled with fear suddenly became one of relief. When Talia finally woke up the next morning, the first thing she noticed was the smell of flowers. She slowly opened her eyes. The hospital room looked completely different from the sterile room she remembered. Flowers were everywhere. Roses stood beside the window. Lilies covered the small table. A huge bouquet sat beside the television. There were even flowers on the chair. Talia blinked. “What happened here?” A familiar voice answered. “You scared everyone half to death.” She turned her head. Her father sat beside her bed. Alessandro looked exhausted. His expensive suit was slightly wrinkled, his hair was messy, and dark circles surrounded his eyes. Talia smiled weakly. “Dad.” Alessandro immediately stood. “Don't move.” “I wasn't planning to.” He leaned closer and gently touched her forehead. “You're awake.” “Apparently.” His eyes became watery. Talia noticed. “Are you crying?” “No.” “You are.” “I have something in my eye.” She smiled. “Sure.” Alessandro laughed quietly. Then he carefully hugged her, making sure not to touch her injured side. “I thought I was going to lose you.” Talia's smile disappeared. “I'm sorry.” “Don't apologize.” He pulled away. “You're my daughter. Nothing matters more.” Before Talia could respond, the door opened. Her mother entered carrying another enormous bouquet. “Talia!” Her mother's eyes immediately filled with tears. “Oh, my baby.” “Mom, I'm fine.” “You were stabbed!” “But I'm alive.” “That doesn't make it better!” Isabella carefully kissed her daughter's forehead. Behind her came Talia's brothers. One carried a basket of fruit. Another carried chocolates. Another had a large stuffed bear. The youngest was holding a designer handbag. Talia stared at all of them. “What is this?” Her oldest brother shrugged. “Gifts.” “For what?” “For surviving.” “I was stabbed, not awarded a prize.” “You survived a knife attack. That's definitely worth a prize.” Everyone laughed. From that day forward, Talia discovered that being the beloved daughter of the Valentino family came with one major disadvantage. Nobody would leave her alone. Her mother constantly brought homemade Italian food, despite the doctors repeatedly reminding her that Talia needed a controlled diet during recovery. Her brothers brought gifts almost every day. One morning, Talia woke up to find a new tablet beside her bed. The next day, there was a designer handbag. The day after that, someone had sent her a massive basket filled with Italian chocolates. Then came perfumes. Books. Clothes. Jewelry. Flowers. Even a custom-made blanket with her initials embroidered into it. Talia stared at the growing mountain of presents. “I think you people are trying to buy my happiness.” Her brother laughed. “No. We're trying to make sure you don't get bored.” “You've bought enough things to keep me entertained for ten years.” “Then we'll keep buying.” Talia shook her head. “You're all ridiculous.” Her mother smiled. “Maybe. But you're our ridiculous little girl.” “I’m not little.” “To me, you are.” Even Alessandro joined in. He personally visited every morning. Sometimes he brought flowers. Sometimes he brought books. Sometimes he simply sat beside her and talked. He even rearranged his schedule so that he could spend more time at the hospital. Talia noticed. “You're supposed to be running the family.” “I am.” “You've been here every day.” “And?” “You're neglecting work.” Alessandro smiled. “Work can wait.” “But—” “You can't.” That ended the argument. However, while Alessandro was busy pampering his daughter, another part of him had become cold. He had not forgotten the ambush. He wanted to know who had ordered it. And he wanted the truth. The investigation began immediately. The Valentino security team examined every camera, every vehicle, every phone record and every movement around the docks. Within days, they discovered something. The attackers had not been random criminals. Someone had paid them. Someone had given them information about the shipment. And someone had known that Talia would be at the docks. Alessandro sat in his office as his security chief placed a file on his desk. “We found him.” Alessandro looked up. “Who?” “A businessman named Marco Bellandi.” Alessandro's expression hardened. “Bellandi?” “Yes.” Marco had been involved in a long-running dispute with several companies connected to the Valentino family. He had recently suffered major financial losses and blamed Alessandro. More importantly, investigators discovered that he had paid the men who organized the attack. Alessandro opened the file. There were photographs, bank records and communications. Everything was there. “He ordered the ambush?” “Yes.” “And he knew Talia would be there?” “We believe so.” Alessandro slowly closed the folder. “Find him.” Marco was arrested before he could leave the country. The evidence against him was overwhelming. During questioning, he eventually admitted that he had arranged the attack, believing he could hurt the Valentino family by disrupting their operations. He had not expected Talia to be there. He certainly had not expected her to survive. When Alessandro heard the confession, he felt no satisfaction. Only anger. But he knew exactly what he wanted. Justice. Because the Valentino family had influence, Alessandro could have made the situation far more dangerous. Instead, he allowed the legal authorities to handle the case. Marco was convicted for his involvement in the attack and several related offenses. Because he was a foreign national whose legal status was revoked following the conviction, the authorities arranged for him to be deported after completing the required proceedings. When Alessandro told Talia, she was sitting in her hospital bed eating soup her mother had prepared. “So they found the person behind it?” “Yes.” “Who?” “Marco Bellandi.” Talia thought for a moment. “I've heard that name.” “He arranged the ambush.” She became quiet. “And what happened to him?” “He was arrested, convicted, and after the legal process, deported.” Talia nodded. “Good.” Alessandro studied her. “Are you angry?” Talia looked down at her hands. “A little.” “That’s understandable.” “But I'm more grateful that everyone is okay.” Alessandro smiled. “That is exactly why you're different.” Talia looked at him. “Different how?” “You could have asked me to destroy him.” “And would you have?” Alessandro hesitated. Talia smiled. “That pause answered my question.” He laughed. “You're still my daughter.” “And you're still impossible.” The weeks that followed were peaceful. Talia slowly recovered. Her brothers continued sending gifts even after the doctors said she could walk around. One afternoon, she returned to the Valentino estate. The moment she entered, she stopped. The entire living room had been decorated with flowers. A large banner hung above the fireplace. WELCOME HOME, TALIA. She stared at it. “Seriously?” Her youngest brother grinned. “You're finally home.” Her mother hugged her. Her father kissed her forehead. Her brothers surrounded her. For the first time since the ambush, Talia felt completely safe. She looked around at her family. All the flowers. All the gifts. All the smiles. She realized something. The Valentino family might have been powerful. They might have had enemies. Their lives might sometimes be complicated and dangerous. But when one of their own was hurt, everyone stood together. Alessandro watched his daughter laughing with her brothers. His heart finally felt peaceful. The docks had brought fear into the Valentino family. But they had also reminded everyone of something far more important. Family was not measured by wealth, luxury cars, expensive houses, or influence. Family was measured by who stayed when everything went wrong. And for Talia Valentino, there had never been any doubt. Her family would always stay.
