After Delana gathered the other items she needed from the shops, she began the walk back to the house. Alpha Jacob promised to deliver her fabrics and other items when he came. He had offered to keep them at his house but Delana wanted to see how the meeting went first. Her wolf whimpered for her mate, wanting his embrace and missing his scent. She ran a hand through her hair, giving it a small tug. She was ecstatic that her servitude was possibly over, but terrified to see how things would go. As instructed, when she made her way inside the house, she made a beeline for the living room. She knew Elizabeth would be there, she rather enjoyed having everyone fawning over her and the child she carried. If Sam wasn't busy, he'd be next to her, showering her with affection.
She spotted the pair on the couch. She drew in a deep breath as she approached the two, her palms sweating. "Alpha, I have news from the market." She kneeled down beside Elizabeth's spot, her gaze locked on the couch upholstery. Perhaps it was the worried look on her face that kept Elizabeth quiet. She wasn't sure but for once, she wasn't scolded for addressing Elizabeth's mate instead of her. "It had better be important, Gould." He replied coldly, not taking his eyes from his growing child. "Alpha Black has requested I inform you of his impromptu visit this afternoon." The room went silent, all eyes were focused on Delana. "King Jacob?" Sam asked, staring wide-eyed at her. "Yes, Alpha." She replied hesitantly. "Did he say what for?" Sam stood, gathering his things from the coffee table in front of him. "No, Alpha. He only requested I inform you. I didn't want to seem rude and inquire."
Sam grumbled under his breath and motioned for Paul, his Beta, to approach. Her body shook violently at the sight of Paul, who smirked at her. Sam repeated what Delana had told him before turning to face her once more. "Clean everything at once. We will not host him in such filth." He demanded, narrowing his eyes. Delana nodded and quickly got to work. Elizabeth glared at Delana as she worked. "I can't believe she met the King before me." She said angrily to her right-hand, Kaitlyn. "I know. You shouldn't have let her out today. You do something kind to her and it blows up in your face." Kaitlyn replied sympathetically. "So unfair."
When Jacob arrived, she was on her knees handscrubbing every single step on the staircase. His face brightened with anger, his jaw tightly clenched. She quickly stood and dusted herself off. "Pardon me, Your Majesty. I was trying to make everything perfect for your arrival." She bowed her head despite wanting to run into his arms. Elizabeth rushed into the room upon hearing Delana's words, her eyes widening in shock. Almost immediately, it turned to a look of anger. She turned on her heels to completely face Delana. "You do not greet our guests! You are the worst this pack has to offer, you are not to be seen!" She screamed out as she backhanded the blonde. Delana dropped to her knees from the strike, her breath catching in her throat.
Jacob growled in response, shoving Elizabeth back to stand in-between the two. Sam ran down the stairs, followed by Paul who stared at the scene before them. "Your Majesty, I-" Elizabeth began, her face covered with shock and horror. Jacob growled once more, much louder than before. Sam stepped beside her, wrapping a protective arm around her waist. Jacob glared at Paul from the corner of his eye, knowing his scent was the one his mate was wrapped in. "What happened?" Sam asked his trembling mate. Jacob held his hand up, silencing her before she started. "I was hoping for a pleasant meeting, Mr. Lawson," He began, narrowing his eyes at Sam. "I thought we could speak like men, but as your mate has assaulted mine, I don't predict that happening." Silence filled the room; the stench of envy radiating throughout it. "Your..." Sam trailed off as he glanced at Delana. "Eyes forward." Jacob demanded.
Sam immediately followed his command, nodding slowly. "Yes, Your Majesty. My apologies. I would like to apologize for my Luna, as well. Please forgive her rudeness." Jacob snorted. "She needs to apologize to Delana, not to me. But from you, I am interested in hearing why she is bruised, tagged, and stinks like your filthy Beta." He raised an eyebrow at Sam's shocked expression as he lifted Delana to her feet. She had stayed on her knees so as not to infuriate Elizabeth further. After a few moments of silence, he glanced at Elizabeth. "I believe I said an apology was in order."
