“After the divorce, Viviane demanded her share of the assets, but unfortunately, I won’t give her a single penny.”
“So you’re using my daughter for your own purposes, Evander? You’re a real jerk!” Dhruv almost lost his temper, but Evander stopped him.
“Calm down, Dhruv. That's not my goal. In fact, I suspect something.”
“Don't make excuses, Evander.”
“Dhruv, my wife and your second wife died on the same day, just in different places. So it's possible that the killer is the same person.”
Dhruv was shocked. “You mean Viviane also killed my wife?”
“I told you, I'm still gathering evidence, which is why I need Callista. She loved her stepmother very much, and the reason she disappeared all this time was because she couldn't bear the sadness.”
“Callista can take revenge on Viviane, much better than I can,” said Evander.
“That's the same as you taking advantage of her, Evander,” concluded Dhruv.
Evander sighed. “Can't you understand what I mean? You know, Lucas is building several new boutiques for his company's fashion line. He needs a lot of real estate services.”
“Your company is a real estate holding company, give Callista a chance to take revenge by making it difficult for Lucas to build those boutiques.”
Dhruv was silent. Evander's plan sounded reasonable. “You don't intend to hurt my daughter, do you?”
“I'm not taking advantage of anyone. I'm just advising you so that your daughter can get her revenge on Lucas and Viviane. I will stand behind her, support her, and look for evidence to sue Viviane in the future,” Evander replied firmly.
Dhruv closed his eyes for a moment, thinking, and then opened them again to look at the wall clock. “I have to go to Paris, and you're messing with my mind because I'm worried about my daughter's safety.”
“I'm sorry, Dhruv. Really, I didn't mean to confuse you. I know you miss and love Callista very much.”
“I understand,” Dhruv said, then got up from his chair. “I'm leaving now. I'm entrusting Callista to you. Take care of her and don't make things difficult for her. If I find out you have, your hotels will be empty again.”
Evander nodded in understanding, a small smile on his lips, satisfied that Dhruv was willing to listen to his advice. Now, he just needed to prove that everything would go smoothly according to plan.
It had only been a short time since Dhruv and Callista had met, and Callista didn't expect to have to part with her father again. Dhruv had to attend an important meeting and several major projects in France, which meant he couldn't stay too long in London.
“Evander will accompany you,” Dhruv said.
“What?” Callista exclaimed.
“Do you mind? He hasn't done anything to you, right?”
Callista looked down, her eyes blinking nervously. “No, Daddy. Evander is very nice to me. You can trust him.”
She was forced to lie, because there was no point in saying that she had slept with Evander because of her own mistake.
“Don’t disobey Evander, he’s my friend, I know him well personally and professionally,” said Dhruv, then hugged and kissed Callista on both cheeks.
Dhruv left, and that meant Callista’s days would be filled with Evander, without her knowing what they had planned behind her back.
“You’re ready for our long night, right?” Evander's voice at the door startled Callista.
The woman turned away angrily and entered the house without saying a word. Evander followed Callista as she went to the kitchen, took a muffin, and made a hot drink.
“You can ask the maid or me for help, Princess,” said Evander, then hugged Callista from behind.
“Let go of me, Evander. You're getting out of control!”
“You think you can control me?” Evander turned Callista around and sat her on the table.
Evander grabbed the woman's body, hugging and kissing her neck aggressively. “Don't resist me, I know you won't do that, Callista.”
That's right. No matter how hard Callista tried to resist, Evander always managed to silence her and make her desire him. The woman's eyes closed as she felt Evander's increasingly wild kisses and touches, especially when Evander's hands began to touch her sensitive parts, Callista spontaneously screamed.
“Remember, Evander....” Callista said, breathing heavily. “Our relationship means nothing. You should be protecting me here. That’s my father’s order.”
“I understand, Callista. So let me protect you my way.”
Evander's body moved deeper inside her, causing Callista to sigh repeatedly. The dining table shook with their movements, the sound of heavy breathing and moans filling the room. Callista and Evander grew wilder, demanding and craving satisfaction from each other.
Evander's fluid spilled onto Callista's stomach as their bodies relaxed together. The servants who had been waiting at the door since earlier didn't dare to interrupt them. After Callista cleaned herself up and tidied her clothes, she was surprised to see all the servants there.
“Why are you here?” Callista asked nervously.
“Sorry, ma'am, we wanted to let you know that Lucas arrived 30 minutes ago and is currently sitting in the living room.”
Callista was shocked. It was late at night, and Lucas, who had just gotten married that afternoon, had come to the mansion. Callista unbuttoned her neatly arranged shirt, intentionally so Lucas could see the mark of Evander’s kiss.
And it worked. When Lucas saw Callista, his attention immediately focused on her chest and face.
“Did you sleep with that bastard?” Lucas asked without hesitation.
“That bastard? Who do you mean?”
“Evander, of course. Did you give yourself to him? You promised to give yourself only to me.”
Callista laughed. “You're crazy, aren't you? Just sleep with your wife, Lucas. I'm not your lover anymore since you abandoned me.”
Lucas growled, his hands clenched tightly. “I didn't throw you away. My mother asked me to marry Issera.”
“And you accepted because she got pregnant, right? You cheated on me, Lucas. Your mistake is unforgivable.”
Lucas was furious, gripping Callista's arm tightly. “Since when did you become so rebellious? You always loved me, but now you act like you don't need me anymore.”
“I know you're angry with me. You want revenge, don't you? Let me explain to you, Callista, I deeply regret my actions!”
Callista released Lucas's grip, then slapped him as hard as she could. “You think life is a joke, you betrayed me, and now you say you regret it.”
“You'd better go home and satisfy your wife. Don't ever come and disturb my life with Evander because I love him very much. I love a man who is much richer than you!” Callista shouted.
Evander appeared, clapping his hands at Callista's words. The man laughed at Lucas' defeat, even pushing the man away from Callista.
“Did you hear that, son? She loves me, so go away. You won't get any chance,” said Evander.
“No way!” Lucas glared in disbelief.
“Isn't it clear enough for you? We made love so passionately, and that is proof that we want each other.”
Lucas shook his head, unable to believe that he had been rejected by the woman who had once been crazy about him. He crawled and knelt in front of Callista, hugging her legs without shame.
"I beg you, forgive me. Don't torture me, Callista, come back to me and I'll divorce Issera. We can start over from the beginning, loving each other like we used to."
Callista was disgusted. She pushed Lucas away and dragged him out of the mansion. “Go away! I hate you, Lucas!”
Lucas' pride was crushed. He was ashamed and angry that Callista had changed so much. He couldn't accept the fact that the woman who had once given her life to him no longer loved him.
“Have you no shame, Callista? You should have been honest from the start. You didn't need to hide your identity to get sympathy from others.”
"I was willing to be your lover out of pity for you, but now you're acting as if my marriage was my fault. Don't you realize you're also playing with me?"
“Look at you now, you're having s*x with my ex-stepfather.”
Callista glared, even though it might not be a big secret, but the fact that Evander was Lucas's ex-stepfather was something she had just found out.
"Evander had s*x with my mother, had s*x as passionately as you did with him. Aren't you ashamed of doing that? You've shown who you are, Callista. Just wait, I won't give up!"
Lucas left, leaving Callista confused with a myriad of questions in her mind.
“Lucas is right, I was once his father, I was once married to Viviane,” said Evander, who had been standing behind them watching Lucas and Callista's argument.
Callista turned, her body trembling. “So you’re using me now?”
“Of course not. I’m helping you, my dear.” Evander touched Callista’s face with his palm, but the woman pulled away.
Callista stared at Evander curiously, but there was also anger in her eyes. “I didn't know you before, we met by mistake, but you entered my life as if you knew who I really was.”
"I did know who you were since you told me your full name before we parted in the barroom. That's why I'm even more eager to help you, Callista. Because I know... you'll be interested in following all my games if you know what really happened."
Callista was stunned. “What do you mean, Evander?”
The man approached, pulled Callista's waist, then suddenly kissed her lips, sucking every soft surface that made him addicted.
“If you choose to be mine, you won’t just be dragged into this game, but you’ll also enjoy everything I give you. I promise you, as long as you’re mine, all your questions will be answered slowly.”
“Lucas Evans... he wasn’t the perfect man all this time, just like Viviane. They may all be involved in the death of your stepmother.”
