CHAPTER 4

Andy swallowed hard with a confused look on his face as he stood speechless staring at the empty bed. “I had no idea she left.” Andy heaved a sigh. “So what's your job then?” Mr. Liam growled. Mr. Liam turned around slowly and faced the door ready to work out. One thing tugged his heart with pain. At least he should have asked her her name. That alone should have been enough for him. “Boss,” Andy called in his strong masculine voice breaking the awkward silence in the room and Mr. Liam tilted his head at him in reply with his fists clenched by his sides as Andy was now standing behind him. “What's it?” He said more like a whisper but loud enough for Andy to hear. “You need to see this?” Andy walked to him and stood beside him placing a tablet in his sight. He glared at Andy for a while inquiring silently what it was. “I have run a background check on her and here is the results," Andy said gently His gaze slowly traveled to the tablet as he collected the tablet from Andy to take a close look at it. While Mr. Liam was away to see the doctor, his investigator, Andy decided to go to the car to get his device for the running of the background check on Emily. Unknown to him did he think that she would run away? As Mr. Liam looked at the details on the table in his hand, his sullen face loosened a little bit, his heart raised and fell slowly in relief as his heart rejoiced, now he had crucial credentials about the girl in his reach so finding her won't be anything for him. He knows how to get whatever he wants both the good and the bad. When he sets out to achieve his aim there is nothing anyone can do to stop him. Even though he rejoiced inwardly, it never reflected on his face that he was pleased to know her name and other important stuff. his face tightened and the corner of his lips shifted into a wicked smile as he stared at the table’s screen. ******** ******** ******* It was a chilly afternoon, Emily was still lying in bed but she wasn't sleeping. Even throughout last night, she tossed on the bed in different positions hoping to be drawn into a deep sleep but she couldn't, and before she knew it her rising alarm clock rang. She glared at the alarm clock as it was disturbing her and when it reminded her how she usually gets up by that time and gets prepared for work, she frowned the most as her heart was already clogged with emotions for the three days, which pained her the most in her chest. She had given everything to work for the agency hoping that one day she would rise to prominence through the agency. She sat up on the bed and reached out her hand hesitantly to get a hold of her phone, hoping she would receive a text message from her boyfriend. No text message from William and she collapsed on the bed in frustration staring blankly into the atmosphere. She sat up hastily as she checked all her social media accounts, still, there was no single message from her boyfriend. She sat lost in her reverie wondering maybe something bad had happened to him. “Could it be that he abandoned her?" She questioned herself but she subtly shook her head in reprimand, “No way." “No he can't do that to me," she whispered to herself as her breath came in heavy gasps. She was jolted back to the moment when it crossed her mind to dial his number again, “The subscriber you dialed is switched off. Thank you." She sighed in frustration as she stared blankly at the phone clutching her hand on her brow. She tossed the phone somewhere on the bed as she sat all to herself lost in thought. Her phone rang and she jolted back to the moment, hoping the caller to her boyfriend. When she saw the caller ID, her shoulders dropped. She answered the call hesitantly and placed the phone in her ear. “Hello girl," a calm mellifluous voice caught her ears. “What's it?" Emily responded in a low and sad tone, frowning the most. “Don't tell me you are still worried about what happened?” Olivia, Emily's best friend joked. Emily sighed in reply. Olivia took a deep sigh to bring herself to start a genuine conversation, “Look girl, it's okay to be sacked but you can't keep hurting yourself. We fall, we rise and we keep going.” “I believe you will get another job better than that one." Emily shook her head in her dilemma and a lonely tear trickled down her cheek. She was beginning to doubt if her so-called best friend truly understood her situation. The job she got sacked from recently, took her a long time looking for employment in that agency. If not for the help of her boyfriend she wouldn't have gotten the job. The same boyfriend who helped her in securing the job his contact isn't connecting. One thing that made her lose all hope was the fact that she didn't know his house. She didn't know any of his relatives talkless of having their contact. Emily has tried several times to know where William stays but he keeps telling her she will get to know his house once they are engaged which will be a surprise for him to Emily. Emily, with the time spent with William, smelled wealth from everything about him. Despite that, she never burdened him with her responsibility since she was yet to be his wife. “I will be his responsibility once I am married to him," she always tells herself. "Olivia, you knew very well what I went through before getting that job. Everyone in this city knows me because I was tramping on the streets every day in the search for a job,” Emily broke down since she couldn't bear the pain in her heart anymore. “I understand you dear. Stop crying,” Olivia's worried voice came through, "But that was then.” Emily silenced herself as she heard Olivia's words, her words rang a bell in her head. She sniffled, cleaning the tears on her face with the back of her hand, “What are you talking about?" She gulped, waiting for what her friend would say next. “I bet you haven't bee n online for the past two days,” she shrugged nonchalantly, "I think you should check your phone.” “What?" Emily asked as she was confused the most.
