_Anya's POV_
The guard kept pulling me forward and I struggled to keep up with him in the darkness. My heart was still racing from what had just happened outside. My mind could not stop thinking about Leon. He had been so close. He had seen me. And now I was being dragged away like I was something that needed to be hidden.
“Where are you taking me?” I asked again, my voice trembling as I tried to match his steps.
“These tunnels lead to the centre of the mansion,” the guard replied quickly. “They were built as escape routes. Only a few people know about them.”
I frowned even though I could barely see anything. “Escape routes?”
“Yes,” he said. “In case of attack or danger. We use them to move unseen.”
That did not calm me. It only made everything feel more serious.
