A baby? She turned the woman into a goddamn freaking baby?!
The man cursed profoundly as he barely managed to escape the sudden surge of guards onto the place. He tried to hide behind the big oak as chaos ensued on the stage and on holding Mariana still. He scoffed angrily as he stomped away from the assembly hall. He shouldn't have believed the witch when she kept on harping about the spell that she was practically making for Alpha Maxim's Luna. She assured him that the spell will sever any mating ties between them and she was adamant that that spell will be the answer to all his worries.
He huffed out in anger, pulling his hood further so that his face would be hidden.
The spell turned the woman into a baby.
It was such a letdown after anticipating all that hype about the AMAZING spell that those worthless witches had concocted. Should have used the money on something more concrete like hiring assassins or rogues to eliminate these weaklings.
"Hey!" A voice spoke from behind him. The man stiffened as he thought of two things: fight or flight. He knew he had stupidly come into this event to see first hand the wonderful spell that Mariana has concocted and he knew that he will pay with it if he gets caught.
He turned slowly and came face to face with Jace Briz, Driscoll's Beta.
"Oh, fancy seeing you here. Leaving so soon? The new Luna has prepared something for the guests." He can see the Beta's eyes. Although the question seemed harmless enough, the Beta's eyes were livid with fury and assessed the situation as calmly as he could.
"Don't know what you are saying but I just came to see who the Luna is and what the whole celebration is all about. Since the light show's over, I'd better get going." The man backed away slowly but when he turned, he came face to face with a few pack warriors who blocked his escape route.
"Oh I insist. The Alpha will be so pleased to see you here." Jace growled out in challenge. The man sighed in defeat. He would have loved to wipe the floor with them but that would call more warriors on him.
Stupid witches!

Carol's POV
"Oh my God! What are we going to do? What are we going to do?" l asked worriedly as I looked at my friend who was basically a baby. I looked at my mate who looked at his Beta and Gamma before turning our faces to the leaders of the East and West covens. Their faces were also equally baffled.
We all looked down at the crib, at the baby who was standing at the sides of the crib and her eyebrows scrunched in a frown. I almost laughed if the situation was not as horrifying as it was.
Clad in a small pink dress with pink bootees, Leilani was looking very cute. Her blond hair was curled in ringlets around her small shoulders. Her big green eyes were widened in disbelief and was almost moist with tears. She was trying very hard to keep a brave face and I was really worried on how she is going to take everything that has been revealed to her. I love her like a sister, more than a friend. She is the only family I have.
I wasn't born a witch. That was what my parents would say. My mother and father kept to themselves and they tried to keep me out of the loop of my so called heritage. I was doing well, being a good little human that I was and was quite a good student. That was until my eighteenth birthday when my grandmother had called upon the next witch to inherit her powers and become the leader of the East Coven. All hell broke loose and it was literally pulling me through the wringer. My parents had just died in a car accident that the coven was thinking that it was intentional but we have yet to find evidence. Yesterday I was a simple girl in a simple house with simple wants and needs. The next I was called into the circle and accepted the mantle of leader of the East Coven of witches.
Of course, Leilani never knew those things. She was my friend since kindergarten so we understood that there are things that should not be shared with each other. We were entitled to keep secrets but to be open if that secret will bring something bad into the friendship. Now this happened. Why did it have to be her? It should have been me after all. They were after me since I am now literally the strongest witch since my mate is with me.
But all the words in the Book of Spells could not bring any kind of counter for this kind of spell.
"Dionne, is it possible to undo the spell?" Maxim asked with a deep sigh. They have been wracking their brains on what to do with my little friend.
"I don't know what kind of spell she was aiming at. When I saw her muttering by the stage, I thought that it was something horrifying as she was focusing too much on you. When her fingers distended, I had to do something." Dionne, my keeper and the one who used her powers to counter Mariana's.
"But why did you have to do it to Leilani? You could have deflected her hands onto something else." Jace whined and decided to carry Leilani. I glared at him to stop him in his tracks.
"Oh I am so sorry, baby. I'll do what I can to undo this spell from you." I picked her up and placed her on my shoulder. I tried to soothe her with words but I don't know if it is working.
"The spell Mariana used was supposed to be a death hex. It was meant to kill you, Carol." The leader of the West coven finally spoke. She was Mariana's mother and was very helpful in binding her daughter so that she can't use any of her spells although I doubt that that can keep Mariana inside the dungeons for very long.
"It is a f*******n spell that was incomplete in its conception. The interference of another witch may have altered the spell that is why your friend is like that." Prudence Westwood explained further, her elegant hands showing a slight tremor.
"What the heck are we going to do? She can't be a baby forever. My God, what will I tell the teachers when they want her for attendance. She has a competition to win, for goodness sake." I muttered despairingly, just in time with Leilani's hiccups.
"That would be the least of your worries." She replied. She took out a parchment and wrote something before passing it to Dionne whose eyes widened at reading it."
"I will help you with what I can but there are no promises."
I am so afraid that that will be the case.
