"J, it's time to wake up!" Terra sang as she stormed in and jumped onto my bed puking back the covers while bouncing. "Ugh T, why are you doing this to me? I just want sleep, " I whined back. "I know dear, but its already 4am. You need to get ready for morning training," She chirped collapsing next to me in the bed before shoving me to the floor. I landed with a loud thump. "Damn T why are you so worried about my morning routine all of a sudden," I snapped glaring at her, "You've never woken me up for training." "Yea well you've also never trained with your mate before." I snapped my eyes up glaring at Terra, "What did you just say?" She giggled. "As if I didnt notice. Come on J you never let us share personal stuff." Crossing my arms I explained, "T, I only allowed it last night because of Paul being your mate..." she interrupted me. "I thought that at first too, you then you let me tell about the famous omega breakfast," Terra flashed me a mischievous smile causing me to roll my eyes. "Whatever T, let's just go start training, okay?" I slipped on my sports bra and sweatpants throwing my hair into a ponytail as we trotted down the stairs. We entered the field at exactly 4:30am. After stretching for a few moments Terra decided to challange me, "Hey Alpha, bet I can kick your ass today." "Not a chance, Beta," I spat glaring at her. "oh really? let's spar then" She smirked at me knowing I couldnt back down. "Fine, but just a quick one before we have to start training," rolling my eyes we made our way to the sparing area. A few years ago we realised a sparing ring was needed due to Terra. Her and John were sparing in training one day when he pinned her. Ts wolf, Lilly, took control without shifting; she dropped between his legs and picked him up throwing him 20 yards away into a tree. John ended up with a broken arm and 3 ribs; while Terra felt horrible. We tested it over the next couple weeks; anytime T is pinned Lilly takes over and somehow throws her opponent. It's truly amazing to witness. I closed the gate to the sparing area. Terra and I dropped into defensive positions; while the training members surrounded the room from the outside. The sparing area is a large fenced in octagon with an elastic net covering the top. We slowly circled the room taking in eachother. She spun sending a round house kick towards my head; which I blocked with my right arm, throwing my left fist into her stomach. Terra jumped back right as I made contact. We exchanged a few hits before she landed one on my face, I heard a sharp c***k as blood started running down my face. Terra smiled mischievously. Suddenly I smelt my mate approaching; as Terra glanced away I dropkicked her legs while jumping forward and grappling her to the ground. After a few moments T stiffened; taking hold of my wrist and shirt, she launched me into the sky. The elastic net flexed under my weight sending me back to the floor of the sparing area. My vision blurred for a moment at impact before being surrounded my pack members. I layed there while my vision returned as pack members fussed over me and scolded T as she fell over laughing. I felt a tingle shoot down my arm as a hand was placed on my shoulder. Looking over my eyes connected with the most beautiful hazel orbs. After scanning my face he turned to Terra and released a warning growl making everybody jump. Pack members noticed his anger and surrounded Terra ready to protect her. Samuel stopped growling as a giggle slipped from my throat. He turned to me with a shocked yet confused expression. "I wouldn't growl at my Beta. The pack will kill you without hesitation," I remarked. "but she injured their Alpha. No pack should choose their Beta over Alpha," he was flustered at this point. I decided to speak up before the situation escalated, "My pack puts no member before another, and Beta Terra did not injure me," standing up I dusted off my legs before turning to Terra and bowing. "T please excuse my rude guest for growling at you. He didn't know better," the boys gasped as I finished my apology. "I will only forgive you on one condition," flashing a mischievous smile Terra continued, "admit I won." Glaring at Terra I paused as if thinking it over, "I ,Alpha J, admit that Beta Terra has finally beat me in the octagon. Remember this day Coldrose because it will be over tomorrow," I laced my voice with venom for the last part. The crowd cheered as Terra engulfed me in a bear hug knocking the wind out of me. "Okay everybody now it's time for actual training. Today will be a short day due to preparing for Jesse and James' party. We do a 15 mile run then pair off to work on sparing," I glanced at Samuel and the boys, "We do have visitors joining us this morning, so please play nice." Terra took off to the front as we started our 15 mile run. "Why aren't you going with Beta Terra?" Samuel jogged up next to me. "What?" I glanced at him confused. "Most Alphas lead the pack in runs. Why dont you? "He restated the question. Hesitantly I responded while surveying our surroundings, "Protection." "Oh okay," Sam muttered After our run the pack members began sparring; Samuel and Paul partnered up along with Phil and Michael. I guess they dont want to try anything new. Terra and I proceeded towards the pack house to address some paper work when a massive mindlink rang out from a warrior. "700 rogues are attacking from the southeast border! They have already entered the territory and are heading towards the pack. I need backup!" the link cut off abruptly. Terra and I immediately bolted in separate directions; her job during attacks is to lead the pack members under 16 to the safe house on the west border, while my job is on the front line. "John please direct the guests to the safe house until further notice. I dont want any excuses. Just get it done." I linked him while giving control to Katara. My bones popped as I began shifting allowing my fingers to grow into claws, and my canines to extend. I charged towards the battle ready to taste blood. I began smelling rogue as I passed the coffee shop on the southeast edge of town. Slowing to a trot Katara took a calming breath while surveying the area. Pack members and rogues were fighting everywhere. Three rogues were attempting to corner a warrior as Katara sprinted forward. We slid under the first one slicing his stomach open allowing the blood to pour over me. The warrior took this opportunity to grab another rogue with his mouth crushing its throat; while I tore the last ones head off with my claws. "Thank you Alpha," the warrior linked me while bowing. "focus. This isn't over yet." I scolded scanning the area. "Alpha back of the library . Franklin is holding off 2 rogues from attacking his sister and I. My right leg is shattered so I cant fight. Please get here," Katara turned and ran to the building next door, the pack library. We panicked, Franklin may be able to take down one rogue, but definitely not two. Since he is only 12 Franklin doesnt have a wolf yet; therefore he cant heal and doesnt have any heightened senses yet. Hes a good fighter, but I worry about him in actual battle. I spotted Franklin as Katara rounded the corner; we charged one rogue knocking him to the side. Grabbing his throat in my mouth; I released a growl. Whimpering he lowered his head submitting to me. Glancing up I noted the fear emanating from the remaining rogue, Franklin had murder in his eyes as he glared at the rogue then looked to me. Bowing my head, I gave my approval. In the next second Franklin was on the rogues back slicing his throat with a dagger. I beamed with pride as he cleaned the weapon on his pants. Scanning my surroundings it seemed as the attack was over. There were very few wolves still fighting as the rest collected the couple wounded pack members. I stopped when I spotted a red wolf sitting near the back of the coffee shop. Katara glared at him while going behind a tree to shift. "how dare he ignore my order! Katara was livid "he has zero respect for our title. This is exactly why I refuse to acknowledge the mate bond," I vented. Shifting back I tossed on an oversized tshirt and grabbed some shorts for Samuel, before returning to Fraklin and his sister. "Alpha I'm so sorry," he bowed, "I know you dont want us fighting, but we were attacked while leaving the library.." I raised a hand silencing his rambles. "Franklin stop. You did what was needed. It seems there was no other choice, but to fight," staring into his eyes I pulled him into a hug. "Your sister and that warrior are alive right now because of your actions. I couldnt be more proud; but how about we go find your parents and get you guys cleaned up." With that I scooped up his sister and began walking towards their house, but not before pulling Samuel along with us. "Alpha, I cant find my children. They aren't in the safe house, and nobody has seen them," a panicked mother rang through my head. "Donna calm down. They are safe with me and heading to your home. Please meet us there when you're able to." I responded attempting to put Franklin's mother at ease. We were climbing the stairs within a few moments. Samuel took a guard stance in front of the door as we went inside, "inside now." I snapped. He lowered his head and proceeded to enter without meeting my eyes. Good, he knew I was mad now. When the kids parents arrived I sat them down explaining what had happened to Franklin during the attack. Their eyes twinkled with pride as they listened to everything. At the end they decided Jesse would be the one to do Franklin's counseling along with his sister, Jackie's. Exiting the house we continued to the pack hospital so I could see our wounded. "What are we doing here?" Sam mumbled. "Pack business," keeping my voice flat as we proceeded into the building. "I understand that, but why are you dragging me with?" he raised an eyebrow at me. I stopped meeting his eyes with anger in my own, "Clearly you wont follow my orders unless I'm present; therefore, for the remainder of your visit you will not be allowed out of my sight. Understood?" I spat at him Once finished at the hospital we continued to the pack house where Terra and the other visitors waited in my office. Samuel didnt look at any of his pack members as we filed into my office. Terra giggled as Paul, Phil, and Michael exchanged confused glances towards Samuel. "Beta Terra I want a report within the day about how the rogues entered our territory. Also we will be splitting up Jesse's work for the next two weeks, understood?" I stated evenly. "Yes Alpha," she bowed before stepping aside and allowing the men into my view. "Now boys, I would like to thank most of you for listening to my orders and going where needed," I glared at Sam, "we will have an suv ready by tomorrow morning for you to take home. I understand Alpha Zander has a meeting with you next week?" Pausing I looked at Sam as he nodded never allowing his eyes to leave the floor. "Okay. After the meeting he will be returning my vehicle. You may all proceed as you wish around the territory, but please dont bother our team that will be investigating this attack. Beta Paul keep an eye on your Alpha and make sure he follows my orders from now on." with that I dismissed everybody and headed into my bedroom to shower and change. After cleaning up I headed to the dining area to check on lunch before taking a walk outside. The sun was high as I strolled around the pack lands bumping into Terra and Jesse talking. T smiled as I approached, "so how much trouble is the Alpha in?" she giggled. "I haven't decided yet," shrugging I explained, "Katara is still pissed at him for disobeying orders," Shrugging they began walking on each side of me, "that's not good, we all know Kat can hold a grudge. Remember when John's wolf, Dominic, called her fluffy and she thought he meant fat?" Jesse began laughing, "Kat made him submit anytime she saw him for an entire week!" we all doubled over as she finished the story. I went to the kitchen and poured a glass of water. T mindlinked me as I took a sip. "Alpha the investigators have started and wont be needing either of us for a few hours." "Okay thanks T, I'll be cooling down in the pool if you need me," I went into my room throwing on my green bikini with a tank top, as I buttoned my jean shorts Terra popped in my head again. "Screw the pool J let's go to the lake. We haven't been there in a year or two. Pleeaaassee," she begged. Rolling my eyes I responded. "Fine, but only until the investigators contact me. Get your suit on, I'll meet you out front." I cut the link as she squealed with excitement.
