8 Laarn had been gone for nearly a week. Days without word from the battle group. Jess found herself jumping each time a door swished open, in case it was one of the emperor’s men to update them on the situation. But it wasn’t. Apart from a simple message from Daaynal that all was proceeding as normal, they’d received no word from the battlefront. “This is ridiculous!
