Seraphine's Message

509 Words
“I’m telling you I felt two little fuckers in my mind just now!” Seraphine continued to knock her head around trying to make the connection again, only this time it would be on her terms. She knew at least one of them was a half beast like herself, but this second mind, it was familiar. She continued to go over the impossibility, but maybe this could have been one of Hope’s children.  “Are you sure it wasn’t just a dream?” Aidan looked around for a seat, but the ground would have felt a bit too informal for his current getup and decided on a wall lean though he felt tiny bits of the brick flaking against his suit coat. “Last I recalled you were told Hope was gone.” “Yeah…” her mind flew to the years prior, she had seen so much that was impossible, maybe this time she should believe it.  “I have errands to run, so I’m going to get going while the sun is still high.” leaning off the wall brought with it those pesky bits and a slight snag which Aidan knew meant this coat had to go. “After all these years Sera, what would cause one to surface?” “Who knows? Maybe it’s because I stopped searching. Maybe Gabriel’s prophecy is finally starting to take effect.” “In that case, I should really get going,” the chuckle was uncomfortable and sensed his impending doom but Sera returned with a crinkle of her nose and a tight shake of her head. “At least we’ll have had these years together.” He winked and strutted off. Sera closed her eyes and fell backward recalling a must more early memory. She had just met Aidan twenty years ago, she gave him a promise, and said she would return. He shared with her a highly coveted secret in return for safety, but that secret turned out to be an uncooperative prick. In this age, selfishness couldn’t be seen as disgraceful, but the lengths that asshole took to make sure he was protected left her fuming when she finally returned to Aidan’s city.  Her thoughts drifted to the war, such a simpler time, something she didn’t long for. She was much too happy for the fighting to be drastically reduced. What she missed were the companions, she knew who her allies were, she didn’t have to scrape the bottom of the barrels and overturn every rock. A thousand years had made the comradery a normalcy a luxury she missed dearly. “I’m too old for this shit.” She kicked her feet up raising herself with a jump, her head almost hitting the ceiling.  She closed her eyes and stretched out her arms spinning in a circle pleading with her mind to open like a book for anyone to read.  If you can hear me. At the foot of the mountains near the sea where the sun always sets, please join me. I have so much news. We have a chance. We can make a difference! Please, come find me. Wherever you are! I’m waiting!
