Epilogue
Josh stepped out of the airport without a hint of nerves. He wasn’t usually this calm the day before a competition, especially one the size of the National finals. But for the first time, there was something on Josh’s mind besides the pressure of competing and winning. In fact, for the first time in years, he remembered how much fun candy could be.
“Josh!”
He turned toward the shout, and saw Peter waving at him, his hair shining in the bright, desert sun. He was smiling broadly, and Josh grinned, dragging his bags toward the rented car.
“Traveling light, I see,” Peter greeted.
“Hey, I’ve got all my tools. Plus, I was thinking I’d make a small trip detour to Los Angeles on the way to Seattle.”
“Oh? What’s in Los Angeles?” Peter asked as he opened the trunk.
