It didn’t take long for Paul to arrive back at the EDF complex, and he immediately set to work on finding the Earth 1 sophonts. The fallen masonry provided no obstacle to him now that he didn’t have to consider the safety of humans, and he was able to make rapid progress, carving a path through the rubble as if he were clearing snow.
Paul doubted that he would find complete sophonts – Zlikovac’s pathological hatred of sophonts would have surely driven him to destroy them – but it was likely that the deceased president wouldn’t have done so without first removing and storing their internal memories. Information can be translated into power and Zlikovac would never have passed up the opportunity to gain additional resources that could be used to strengthen his position.
