Chapter 5. Runaway Bride

“Don't worry, I'll fix this,” Dominic assured his butler before terminating the call.

His anger is gradually spreading to everyone around him. It's just too difficult for him to hide how he's feeling right now.

“Sir, are you experiencing issues with your wife?” Clark, his office, inquired.

He knew Dominic's rage had everything to do with the telephone conversation he just had.

“I want you to go find my wife now! Ensure she returns here with you.” Dominic instructed Clark while neglecting the initial question.

None of that meant anything to him. He just wants his wife back and would do everything to make it happen.

“Right away boss,” Clark bows out of respect and dashed out of the office.

He didn't bother asking more questions because he knew what's at stake.

Karen finally arrived at her father's mansion but was shocked not to find anyone in the living room.

“Where could they be now?” She asked herself.

Something isn't right with her. She always finds someone in the living room each time she walks in.

But now, it's as though everyone has deserted the mansion for a new location.

She sat down and hoped that someone might show up soon. When she got tired of waiting, she stood up and was heading to her mother's room.

As she got really close, she heard a voice that nearly made her stumble to the ground.

Her eyeballs popped outside immediately. She had the urge to break the door, but had to stop when she noticed that it was slightly open.

Quietly, she peeped through a small hole and caught two people making out in the bed.

At that spot, the tears didn't stop drooling her eyes. As she tried to wipe her tears, she accidentally touched the door and exposed herself in the process.

Karen suddenly felt a meltdown inside her body. That's clearly her soul departing from her.

Just when she thought her miseries were over, the two people making out on the bed rushed outside and saw Karen crying her eyes out on the ground.

Karen just endured the worst betrayer ever of her life. She just caught her kid sister making out with her boyfriend.

“Claire, why?” Karen wept bitterly.

She couldn't even speak properly. A lot is going through her head right now. If they're executed, Karen is most likely to spend the rest of her life in jail.

“You must be a clown to think that Jared ever loved you.” Claire blurted out. She didn't even feel any remorse for snitching on her sister.

Karen couldn't believe her ears. She had to wipe the dirt off her ears to be certain they weren't leading her astray.

Gradually, she stood up to approach Jared. “Were you even listening to her?”

She needed to hear directly from Jared to know where she stands. She doesn't want to believe the words coming from the mouth of Claire, her sister.

She has always known Claire to be a jerk. But with Jared? She had high expectations and hopes about him.

“Claire was right, Karen.”

Jared spilled. “Claire and I have been in a relationship for four years now. Even while I was dating you,”

“Four what?” Karen's voice seized. She could feel her vocal cords slowly burning out.

“You were cheating on me with Claire for over four years? What kind of man are you?” Karen blows hot.

She was so ready to smash Jared's head against the wall in retaliation. She isn't concerned about the consequences of her actions.

“Cut me some slack, Karen!” Claire clapped back when no one thought she would.

She shoved Jared aside to approach Karen. She stood in front of Karen with so much confidence.

“You should be thanking me for keeping your man. You s*x starved him. And guess what? I came to the rescue, so deal with it,” Claire owned up to her actions.

To compile Karen's woes, Claire turns around and kisses Jared. She did it so passionately just to get on Karen's nerves.

Karen finds herself gasping for air. It was a miracle that she didn't pass out on the ground!

Her only regret is the absence of her parents. She wished they were here to witness this madness right now!

“That's not all, Karen!” Claire snapped as she finally let go of Jared just to speak to Karen.

“I planned your marriage to Dominic so I could have Jared to myself forever. I knew Dominic has always been a beast. What's the best way to make you suffer than orchestrating a marriage with him?” Claire unleashed the bombshell. She ended her revelation with wicked laughter.

“Tomorrow is our engagement party. You're free to attend,” Jared chipped in.

He's been seeking for means to invite Karen without having to visit her home. Now that she's here, he just couldn't let the opportunity slip away from him.

Karen was speechless! She didn't even know where to start attacking them.

She wanted to speak but ended up stuttering. She would have doubted if anyone had told her that Jared will cheat on her. He didn't just cheat on her, he did it with Karen's sister.

Karen looked at them with so much hate in her eyes. She shakes her head in pity and storms outside.

She got inside her car and drove off without delay. She doesn't want to spend another second in her father's mansion.

As she drove home, the tears won't stop rolling. She was so lucky not to collide with a car that was right in front of her.

“Hey, ma'am,” Karen heard a voice speaking to her from close range.

She glanced next to her to see Clark inside a car. She can't help but imagine how Clark managed to locate her from the office.

With the arrival of Clark, Karen is so sure of landing in another bigger trouble.

She just hopes that Clark won't tell Dominic that he saw her outside with the same car Dominic had previously warned her not to use.
