Chapter 23- Knowing the past

We first entered children's room. It is the same size of the kids’ room next door. Both the boys stayed here. Mia sleeps in the kids’ room. The room is neat and had two single beds. I wondered why the boys are given separate room while Mia has to sleep in kids’ room. I surely have a stupid brain. How could I forget clear discrimination between girl and boy in this family? My thoughts were interrupted by Sam

“Well they are planning to set up new bedrooms for the boys at the third floor. You know when they grow up they would need privacy.”

“So that means a girl doesn’t need privacy. How weird isn’t it.” I said.

“Come on Ria forget about it. Let me show you my room.” Emi said and took me to the next room.

“No my room is next door. So let’s see my room first.” Sam said and we entered her room. It’s bigger than the other two rooms. The room is huge with a king size bed in the middle. The walls behind the bed is semi hexagon in shape. There are floor to ceiling windows on either side of the bed. Beautiful French curtains are on both the windows. On the one side there is a coach and two sofas with a coffee table in the middle. Walls were painted in off white color with small flower in black as borders. Beautiful paintings similar to the one in the corridor hang on the walls. Looking through the window I could see boundless sunflower fields.

 Now I could see the shape of the villa from here. It is L shaped. In the middle of the L-shape there is a huge swimming pool. Even though it is night I could see the scene outside the window because huge flood lights are being lighted around the field. It looked beautiful to see the sunflower moving in the night breeze. I just wanted to run between those fields and feel the breeze. Would be something like in a movie and I will be the heroine. It would have been better if Dani would be with me holding my hands. I would be the princess running along with my handsome prince. Wow I wonder what Dani would say about something such fantasy. I was just immersed in my own thoughts that I didn't realize Emy and Sam is watching me.

“It seems like someone is dreaming with open eyes.” Sam's words pulled me out of my thoughts.

“Sorry but I can’t stop admiring the beauty of the scenery. It's so beautiful. Wow you can always wake up in the morning having such a beautiful scene in front of you.” I exclaimed.

“Yah it's beautiful but beauty always seems good when the people around you are happy. Waking up next to a man who never loves you is just awful. Sometimes I just feel to kill the Cameroons. But when I look at Emi a former Cameroon my intentions die away. All started with the breaking of engagement by the Cameroons with Dani.” Sam sighed.

“What? How’s it is related? Was it different before?” I questioned.

“Yes it was never like this. We were just happy with our husbands. We did have the freedom to go out and have fun. A freedom was banned after Rose broke the engagement.”

“So, were you all happy before? Did your husband’s love you before that incident?” I wondered.

“Yes they did. William used to love me so much that he always used to take me with him where ever he goes. I have even gone to Asia with him when he was travelling for business purpose. It's been 9 years we are being married. The initial 4 years was just a blessing. We had Jacob and I was expecting Harold when we went to United States. He took me to visit every place and we also visited my uncle Ronald who is Rose's father. At that time everything was fine. They were actually looking forward to the marriage. Rose was really thrilled to get married and she really liked Dani. God knows what happened after that. After we came back things got worsened. And after around a year they called off the wedding.” Emi explained.

“Yeah, I remember. At that time I just had delivered Mia and was at my home. I had to go to my maiden home as Emi was gone with William and mom had to go to Manchester as Uncle George was not well. So there was no one here and Harry was just worried so mom suggested to go to my home.” Sam remembered.

“Remembering those days I wish we could get back to the past. Harry used to care for me so much that I just thanked God each day for giving me such a loving husband. Might be because I never prayed to keep my happiness throughout my life God took his blessing away from me. I should have cherished it. Now everyday when I open my eyes I pray to God to give me those days back. I could remember as it was yesterday when Mia was born heavy was so much happy that he gave his entire staff bonus. He used to love his daughter more than anything else. But it all changed overnight. Actually Mia is the one who suffered the most. She is just a kid. At first she was startled by Harry's behavior but now she is used to it. I wish Mia could get back her dad one day.” I could see tears shining in her eyes.

Oh my God I couldn’t even console them that everything will be fine day. I feel helpless right now. I have to find a way to get back their happiness. How? I don’t know. Might be I should dig the root cause for all this misery. But for that I have to know more about Rose and her family. I have to ask Emi for the details.

“Emi, when you visited Rose and her family was there anything strange. I mean have you felt anything fishy in their behavior. Don’t mind me asking. It’s okay if you can’t tell me.” I asked.

“Why are saying like that Ria. Of course you can ask me. Well as I told you they were looking forward to the marriage and Rose also seemed happy. Nothing strange happened. They all behaved normally. They were planning to come and visit the Cooper family so that they could fix a date for the marriage.” Emi said

“When Emi and William returned they came to visit me and Mia. William was so happy to see Mia that he danced taking her in his hands. I still remember him saying to Emi that he wants a baby girl this time.” Sam looked at Emi and continued

“Emi, do you remember how many presents you both brought for Mia from US. When we got back here kids room was filled full with girls’ toys. Even they have changed the wall color to pink. Can you imagine? On her first birthday, Harry and William threw a big party with a Disney World theme.”

“Yeah, Harrold became two months then. The party was held in the field. One week before the birthday they cleared around two acres of field and set a beautiful garden for the party. Mia was the princess. As I gave William again a boy he was more attached to Mia. Do you remember Sam, Mia was either in Harry’s hand or in William’s. They never for a moment put her down. I think around more than 5000 guest came that day. We took a truck to bring the presents Mia received to the villa. The very next day everything changed.” Emi said and it was like they were living that day.

“From there on Harry considered Mia as the cause for everything. Even though he knows that she is innocent. They became distant from her. Not just her but from me, from us.” Sam sighed. I could feel the pain in her voice. Oh God, how happy was they on that day and the very next day their life changed to a living hell. But what happened which caused all this chaos.

“What happened on the next day? I asked.

“After the party, Uncle George, aunt Mary and Dani stayed here in the villa as their flight back to Manchester was on the next day. On the next we were preparing breakfast. Mom and Aunt Mary were with the kids helping them to unpack Mia's presents. Suddenly we heard lot of noises from the drawing room and when we rushed there we found uncle George was laying on the coach holding his chest and Dani was kneeling down trying to help his father. While dad seemed frightened and yelled at Harry and William to call the doctor.” Sam continued after Emi

“We had no idea what was happening. Mom and Aunt Mary also looked worried. Harry said instead of calling doctor it would be better if they rushed to hospital because our villa is really in a remote place. We all went to the hospital leaving the kids to the maids. In the hospital we got to know that Uncle George had a massive heart attack. Men were discussing in low voices. And finally when we got the reason to know the cause of this sudden attack we were perplexed. The Cameroons had called off the wedding without any reason. Uncle George was already going through health problems and the news was something he couldn’t bear. After all Dani is his only son.”

“Emi, do you remember seeing the Weasley family there. At that time I ignored. We saw the Weasley family in the hospital but they never came to visit Uncle George. After all Daisy was from the Cooper family. She was also there in the hospital that day. It’s strange she never came to visit her uncle.” Sam remembered.

“Ria, you asked me about our visit to Rose's house. There was nothing strange but that day when we left their house I saw Weasley family entering the gate. I clearly saw Daisy in car. When I told this to William he just ignored it and said that I would have misunderstood as the Weasley's have no relation with Uncle Ronald's family. And it’s true. Weasley’s clearly had no relation with Rose's family. So, I too believed that I would have misunderstood someone else ad Daisy.” Emi explained.

Yes they are correct. It’s strange that the Weasley family was at both places. Might be they had reasons. But still as from Emi's words something happened which caused the Cameroons to break the engagement. But then again dad had heart attack but now he is being treated for cancer. It’s also weird that dad overcame the news of cancer even though he is a heart patient. How is that possible? I have to check on dad's medical reports once I get back to Manchester. Or else I could get them through email if I want but that will make Dani know about my suspicions. I have to find a way out. But before that I should get the details were dad got the treatment.

“Sam, on that day dad was taken to which hospital and who attended the case.” I asked

“Well he was taken to Sanders hospital. But that day for some reason cardiologist was not available and Dr. Johnson Derrick who is the brother of our family Dr. Jonathan Derrick attended the case. By the way Dr. Johnson is also the family doctor of the Weasleys.”

Why the name Weasleys are always coming. Is there something to do with them or is it a mere coincidence. I have to investigate but for that I have to be in London but how? We are flying tomorrow to our new honeymoon destination. But again something is missing

“But you told me earlier that women never had freedom in your family. But now you are telling that you had the freedom before. I don’t understand.”
