Raya
When we wake up in the morning, I am unsure what to do. I ask if she wants to stay home. We can stay in bed all day. I can make popcorn and we can watch Netflix and just stay barricaded inside. But she wants to go to school. She is desperate to see her mate. She is clinging to the hope that he will help her and rescue her from this hell. After all, he is her mate.
When we walk through the doors, we see him straight away. He is standing there with Stacey, the head cheerleader clinging to his arm while using her other hand to draw circles on his chest as she blinks her false lashes and giggles coquettishly.
Rose steps forward, “Peter.... can I ..... can I talk to you?” she reaches out and he fingers cling to his sleeve. He yanks his arm out her grip. “Don’t touch me. You’re disgusting. Was this even the first? How many times have you spread you legs for another wolf? “ He sneers at her and she crumbles.
“No, it wasn't like that. Please, let me explain. “
“What could you possibly say?" pipes up Stacey.
I growl at her at she gives a huff. Releasing Peter's arm and taking a step back.
Rose falls to her knees. Begging. “Please. Your my mate. You are the one I am suppose to be able to trust and count on. I need you to listen and help me. Please.” Tears streaming down her face.
He looks at her with disgust. “You are a filthy w***e. There is no way you could be my mate and the Luna of our pack. I Peter Kinsley, reject you as my mate.”
I watch her body twist in Pain. “Aaggghhh.” She screams, writhing on the ground, clutching her chest. When it stops, she clumsily gets to her feet and runs away.
“Rose" I yell.
He turns to Stacey, “good thing she is gone and won’t dirty our eyes anymore.”
I growl, grabs his arm and shove him back. He falls into the lockers.
Stacey. “Hey!”
I growl and bare my teeth, snap my jaw eyes and my glow, making her back away.
I turns to Peter. “You are the one that’s disgusting. You are supposed to be her mate and you wouldn’t even listen to her. All this time, you and your family have done nothing to protect her. All these years you knew her dad was beating her. And now, her uncle r***d her and you can’t even give her a moment of your time or sympathy. You are no alpha. “
I turn away and run. I pick up Roses scent and follow it. She went home. I walk in and go to her room, finding her tucked in a ball on her mattress.
“Rose? We have reason to stay. Why don’t we just go? Let’s leave.” She raises her head and stares at me with her redden eyes, cheeks still wet with tears and her face all blotchy. A small nod is all it takes for me to leap into action. She doesn’t have much here. The few things that are important to her were kept at my house for safety. I go through her drawers and scoop up what little she has in a bag. I hold out my hand and pull her to her feet once she takes it. We then go to my place where I go from room to room, grabbing the things I think we will need. I don’t have much stuff either. Although for a different reason. While Rose’s dad didn’t buy her things, I just didn’t buy anything unless I was desperate. These last 10 years I have scrimped and saved most of the pack allowance I was given. Even after buying a car, I still have a nice chunk of change as my savings. All in cash. Nothing I had was connected to the pack. I kept all the money, I registered that car to me alone. My mobile only had my name on the account. Once we were gone, the Pack would have no way to track us. I swear as I remember that they didn’t even bother to record my license plate for safety. Although I am greatful for that. Clothes, cash, the few memento’s I have of my family. The photo's and the childhood soft toy I Still had were pushed into a bag. A suitcase, carry on and 2 backpacks were all it took to pack up everything rose and I had accumulated over our lifetimes. We took everything to the car and put them away. We then help hands and took one last tour of the house. It was my family home. My mum, dad and brother had lived there with me. I can’t say feel a twinge in my heart, but after we walked out the front door and Rose gave my hand a squeeze, I knew we were making the right choice. This wasn’t home. It hadn’t been for a long time. We get in the car and drive away, occasionally looking back and watching the pack buildings get smaller and smaller until they finally disappeared from view.
Rose.
We had been driving for hours before stopping at a dinner and grabbing a burger. As we get back in the car, I scrunched up in my seat as pain burst from my chest.
It’s mate. He is with another. My wolf sadly informs me. I look over at ray's concerned face and manage to squeeze out the words “Peter is having sex.” She looks at me with sadness that quickly turns to rage. Her anger on my behalf helps tamped down the pain. She wraps her arms around me and holds me tight. The pain is so strong I end up biting Ray's arm. She doesn’t move or flinch. She just hugs me until the pain fades and I know he has finished. I see the blood on her arm and horror wells up. What have I done? I look at her face and she shows me nothing but concern and love. She just pulls out a tissue and presses it to the bite before pulling her sleeve down and buckling her seatbelt. As my own gives a click, she starts the car and we drive off.
