A SPARK OF CURIOSITY
I was informed by Kael's attendants that there was a feast tonight, and I was invited, so I was properly taken care of... Why was I invited?, what was I to do there?.
As I walked down the grand hallway. My sleek black gown shimmered in the flickering candlelight, the two attendants trailing behind me like silent shadows. I had no idea what why I had been summoned to this feast party, only that my presence required.
My gaze drifted ahead and I saw him, Kael's cousin;Lord Lucien, the one who told me to remember my place when I first got abducted. His physique was imposing, his muscles evident even beneath his tailored attire. My eyes lingered on his broad chest, and I felt an inexplicable pull towards him.
Our gazes met, but he didn't react, his eyes cold and unyielding. He didn't acknowledge my presence, instead looking away as if I were invisible. I couldn't help but admire him, my heart beating just a little faster. But he seemed oblivious to me, his attention focused elsewhere, his expression a mask of indifference.
As soon as we had passed each other, the two attendants began whispering to each other, their voices barely audible.
"he's certainly... Striking" one of them said, her eyes darting to the vampire's retreating figure.
"yes but so cold and distant" the other attendant replied.
"I heard he hasn't spoken a word to anyone since his parent's. It's as if he's lost in his own world" the first attendant nodded in agreement,
"and rumor has it,Lord Kael was instrumental in ensuring he'd never inherit the throne. Apparently Lord Kael told he'd never be worthy of the title". Their voices trailed off as they continued to follow me as they speculated about the enigmatic vampire.
My mind reeled with questions as I walked, who was this vampire guy?, why had Kael been so cruel to him?, and why did Kael seem so determined to deny him the throne?.
The more I thought about it the more confused I became.
