He went upstairs and unlocked the door, only to be met with complete silence in the living room. The familiar aroma of home-cooked food he had imagined was nowhere to be found. Instead, the air was cold and empty. Annoyance bubbled up inside Damien as he frowned and called out Seraphina's name. "Seraphina! Did you not see my messages? How long are you planning to keep this up? Since when did you become so petty?" After his outburst, there was no response. Instead, his eyes landed on a red string bracelet resting on the entryway shelf. That bracelet had always been on Seraphina's wrist. To be honest, Damien had long forgotten when he gave it to her. He had mentioned more than once how cheap and worn-out it looked, even suggesting that she should replace it. But Seraphina had refused.
