VICTORIA GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL.
Everyone and everything break rules unnoticed everytime but today's broken rule couldn't go unnoticed.
It started with the clouds allowing the colourless liquid to pour out, wetting and damping whatever it comes across on the November morning.
Despite waking up to see in utmost surprise and dismay, the rain, the students of Victoria high school ran into the dining hall at the sound of Big Ben, today like like every other day was going to be a deja vu thought the teachers sent to watch
the girls. The junior girls ran in with their squeaky scandals, shouting at the top of their lungs to someone walking right beside them, while the seniors talked in hush tones about God- knows-what.
Their loud noise over shadowed the CeCe Winna's song playing from the speakers,no one took notice of anything, not even when Ms.Brown, the proprietor, came in, it was here the empty seat was noticed.
Victoria girls high school pride's itself in being strict, although students weren't flogged when found guilty of an offence but they were severely punished to pass across message to every student to prevent defacing the school, but obviously, not everyone got the message.
"Whose seat is this?"
Head's turned with puzzled looks. No one had noticed the empty seat. No one.
"It's Beatrice's seat ma"a shy voice said"senior Beatrice". Even as the voice said this it knew this wasn't the end of the questions for Ms.Brown was an inquisitive woman, who had an habit of peering through her round glasses when she spoke.
Directing her gaze to the girl with the voice she asked"then where is she?"
"I don't know ma" the voice replied"I only know that's her seat and she is not seating there"
"Obviously"
Turning to the girls at the table where the empty seat was"who are her room mates?".Three hands shot up"where is she then?"
shrugging shoulders answered her
"so the three of you came down for breakfast without waking your room mate ?". Some one had to say something because she was clearly getting more angry,"Ms.Brown?" an albino girl called"am her bunkmate, when we all got up to get ready and she didn't I called out to her but she didn't move then we were coming down I called her again and she still didn't move"
Pointing to a female teacher she instructs her to follow the albino and get Beatrice, fifteen minutes later swift foot steps came running down the stairs.
"she is not there"the teacher said in panic
"what do you mean?"
"she arranged her pillows to replicate a human figure, she is not there"
Turning to favor the albino"didn't you say you woke her up?"
"No Ms. Brown she quickly retorted"I said I called out to her, Beatrice doesn't like it when you tap her,so I just called out her name"
This has happened before,right ?
She could feel anxiety to rising inside her.Elite men and women entrusted there girls in her care, she couldn't allow this happen.
One thousand and one thought came rushing through her mind.
She could have gone strolling down the hostels, three girls have done that before or she could have gone for a walk in the field, but it was raining,or better still she was playing a trick on them, but Beatrice Adekoya wasn't that kind of girl.
Pulling out her phone she called the security guard, for in truth, she was afraid of letting one thought slide into her mind and that was:her leaving the school.
Her parents weren't people to be messed with especially when their only daughter as she had heard was concerned.
Talking to the person on the other line"Chike,a student is not here, I want you to check every room for her.Use the cameras.Do that quickly, it shouldn't take you thirty minutes".All the other person said was"okay ma"
Less than the given time,Chike called back saying"I've checked everywhere ma, she is not in the school premises"
"Then where is she?"she retorted
"I don't know ma.The cameras couldn't spot her"
The search began, straddled with the
responsibility of educating and grooming daughter's of prominent men and women, they or Ms Brown rather, had to ensure they are save and secure, and like Jesus did in the bible, she had to leave two hundred girls in the dining hall with no one and look for the lost sheep or in this case a lost student.
