Amy looked around the room and was happy to see her mum, her sister, and her only son.

Seeing them was enough for her for now. The party was a surprise by her colleagues for her after her swearing-in as they welcomed her to a new office.

She was with Juliet chatting about her new experience staying with her fiancee when her sister Rita walked up to them.

"Hey sissy,' Rita called out with a smile and they hugged. She then hugged Juliet.

"I missed you," Amy confessed honestly.

"You miss me and you never visit?" Rita furrowed her brows.

"I'll leave you two to talk," Juliet excused herself and gave them space to talk.

"Not like I didn't want to visit," Amy defended herself.

"But Austin hates me, he thinks I denied him a chance to have a father figure in his life," she added.

"Did you? He who has a clear conscious fears nothing," Rita faced out through the window sipping from her glass of wine.

"Of course not, it's just that marriage wasn't my thing, It's unfortunate that my baby had to be a victim of my broken marriage. Enough about me what about you? The last time we talked, you are going for an introduction and you never invited me to the wedding," Amy complained

"Because there's no wedding happening anytime soon," she sipped her wine again.

"Why the man loved you and you love him back. You guys were in cloud seven, what happened between the two of you?" Amy asked.

"Because love alone can't make it work," Rita shrugged.

"What happened? You can talk to me we were friends before everything went wrong, but that doesn't change the fact that I still love you as my younger sister," Amy turned to face her.

"I love you too and sometimes I wish we could go back to that once happy family. You need to reconcile with your son, he may be acting all stubborn but he misses you. You are his mum and nothing can change that," Rita advised.

"I wish one day I'll get the courage to tell him what happened, maybe then he won't judge me again," Amy responded.

"I went the introduction but unfortunately his elder brother was the same man I had a baby for twelve years ago,"

"What!? Amy was shocked.

"You remember the family I was a surrogate for?" Rita asked.

"How can I forget when you were forced to be the breadwinner and also pay for my hospital bills?"

"Unfortunately that was the same family I was going to get married into. His older brother is the man I had a baby for. I can't stay somewhere and see someone else taking care of my daughter. That woman loves that girl. I also signed a contract that I'll never show myself to them again. If they found out I was the one they would have thought I came back for my daughter and you know what that means. I can't stand to break a marriage at least that way God will pity me then my marriage won't be broken by anybody,' Rita said.

"I understand but you could have told that young man, maybe he could understand," Amy suggested.

"There is nothing there to understand, how will people see me? That I slept with both brothers? I can't do," Rita nodded negatively.

"I understand you, I'm sorry you sacrificed your happiness for us. One day you get a man to marry you,"

"Like men are easy to find?"

"Or maybe we were never meant to get married, but I will wish to have a child so before I start looking for marriage I'll look for a child first,"

"I wish you luck,"

"Thank you," Rita appreciated.

"Who informed you about this party? It was a surprise that I never knew about,"

"You deserve the job and about the party, your colleague called me and you won't imagine how long I spent convincing mum and Austin to come over. Do you also know that Austin dreams of you or we can say he has nightmares of you? Makeup with your son, he needs you,"

"I love him and always will but some things in life can't be controlled,"

"There is something, I have been wanting to ask you? What happened? Your husband came over to the house three months ago to visit Austin and the bond between them that nobody can ever think, that they are not father and son. What happened? I can't say he wronged me but I just don't believe in marriage,"

"Because Mum's marriage didn't work doesn't mean ours was too won't work? By the way, once I'm ready to get married mine will work and I'll make sure of that," Rita insisted.

"All the best but for me, I got an heir already, and right now what I'm looking for is success in my work. I love my job,"

"I can't tell you anything, you're always stubborn,"

"Like you are any different,"

"What did Oscar come to do at the house?" Amy asked.

"You and I know that he is mum's favorite. Maybe she invited him over,"

"That means mum invited him,"

"I'm not sure, mum invited me for dinner and I found him there so I can't tell,"

"I heard he is married, is it true?"

"Do you care? You guys divorced or do you still love him?"

"I don't love him,"

"Maybe you never did, because if you loved him you'll still be in your marriage,"

"Till now, can't we just forget the past and move on with our lives?"

"Mom never forgot the past she still has it against you and that's why today you aren't on good terms with her,"

"I wish I could still talk to her I got so much in my life that I wish I could share with her but maybe I just can't,"

"You can,"

"How? She gave me a condition to go back to my marriage if I ever want to be her daughter. Now it's too late, Oscar has married again, I even heard he has a daughter,"

"Yeah, now the girl is two years old,"

"You saw her?"

"Yeah, he came with her in the house. She is pretty, I must say,"

"Now you see, I can't go back to him,"

"He isn't married; he just has a baby mama,"

"I overheard him complain to Mum that you were taking contraceptives and that was why you never got pregnant for him. Is that true?"

"It's all in the past,"

"Is it true or false?"

"I indeed took them, but not because I didn't want to have a child for him. I wasn't ready to be a mum again,"

"You were ready to be a mum at sixteen? Can you please stop with all this? I had gone a long way trying to beg Mum to make up with you. I need the whole truth to help you. There were hopes that she could forgive you but then he came and told her you were taking contraceptives then boom I went back to square one,"

"What did you expect me to do? I took them, I had just gotten a job and I had a case to investigate and get the truth for victory and pregnancy was the last thing I wanted. That didn't mean that I would have never gotten pregnant for him if we would have stayed together longer, I would have gotten pregnant,"

"Your life is all about, case after case and I'm fed up, once you are ready to put your life together give me a call," Rita walked out on him and Amy exhaled hot air.
