Adeline could feel Lucan's gaze, and she struggled to keep her eyes focused on the scene she had so meticulously arranged herself. Angel had been of so much help, even guarding the place when she went to bring Lucan. But with the way things were, she was not quite sure she wanted Lucan to talk to Angel. He already had so much to think about and do that the entire prwmise of this dinner was to take his mind off things. Including their rather complicated relationship. They had gotten to the point where things like touching their hands, touching faces, and embraces, all felt natural. Even kisses if they wanted to take it up a notch. But not those words. Those words felt almost forbidden, like it would unleash some sort of curse upon them, and both of them would find themselves regretting
