KYLE JIMENEZ'S POV
Waking up from the tweeting of birds outside, I woke up alone in Coleen's bed and my laptop was turned off.
Probably Coleen woke up earlier than me, she turned off my laptop and even took our dirty dishes down to the kitchen.
Gently rubbed my eyes and stood up out of bed, I also make the bed, of course.
Her left over chips and food are around the wooden old floor, how can she even call this a room?
Without wasting time, I went downstairs to go to the cleaning materials room just beside the basement but there was no one around, maybe Coleen and Mommy went somewhere then left me alone.
I entered the room with the broom and dust pan then took one garbage bag. As I left the room, the door slowly opened and I knew what I saw.
There was someone peeking through the small space behind the door in the dark, I know I am not mistaken.
The mansion was more quiet, a deafening silence to be exact. It was like, I really am alone. My eyes aren't that blurry enough not to notice something.
I transferred the broom to my right then the dust pan to my left. I tightened my grip to the handle of the broom, then slowly approached the door one meter apart.
Using the strength and lessening my fear, I moved the door. Geez, I really wanted to close my eyes to this, even if it's in the middle of the day!
The door creeked as I slowly push it with the broom, but all I saw was darkness.
Oh, not today, don't want to die alone and saw me here with my own blood.
I reached for the doorknob as fast as I can and the creek from the door was more fast than I did with the broom.
"What are you doing, Kyle?" I turned around and saw Mommy looking at me directly.
"Uhh, just checked if the door, y-you know if it still works." I replied with a smile in my face.
She smiled too, then went to me and took the broom. "Never knew that a broom was actually used to open door." She chuckled and looked at the broom then me.
"You must be hungry, let's eat together now. Just you and me." She took my right hand and went to the dining room.
She sat on one of the chairs and so did I, the hot food was already in place with 2 empty plates.
Mommy took the plate of rice, gave some to me and putted some to her own plate.
But, wait, where's Coleen?
"Mommy, we shouldn't eat first without her. By the way, did you see her this morning?" I interrupted and she looked at me weirdly, like she was not happy at all.
"I am a little hungry today, Kyle. I didn't even saw her this morning." She murmured and didn't bother stopping then just took the plate of 2 perfectly cooked eggs.
Something's odd, she knows that Coleen and I are together and we are 3. I would say it was only a coincidence that she just forgot Coleen, but seeing only 2 eggs in the table isn't.
I stood up and went to the garden first. I think she wanted to stare at the flowers and the tree there in this morning.
But, I didn't see any Coleen there. So, I went inside again and saw Mommy eating like she has no care about us. She is not like this, but I have to understand her too.
Maybe she's really tired and not well, so I think it's best that she will eat first before us.
I went upstairs and looked around the second floor, there I saw Coleen standing on the 10th door.
She is staring on the door, just standing straight and her eyes focused on the door.
"Hey, Babe, what are you doing?" I walked towards her and even shake her for a bit then she looked at me.
Her expression was confused then looked at the door and then to me again.
"The hell am I doing here?" She asked.
"I don't know, did you wake up not knowing what are you doing? Are you okay?" I asked.
She hugged me and I responded back, she's sick I guess. From her standing just outside the door of the restricted room and not remembering how or why she's here.
"Let's eat now, you must be hungry." I offered then we walked down the stairs and no noise is heard.
Mommy stared at us and boy, I couldn't even read what she's thinking or what, it creeps me out.
She finished her food and my plate had rice and an egg with strawberry juice beside.
Weird. Really, really weird.
"Okay, I'll cook my own breakfast and Coleen, sit here and eat. It's for you." I pointed out the place where I sat earlier, where the food was placed.
Mommy changed her mood, more like in rage."No, I prepared this for you. Let that girl cook her own, she's big enough to cook, Kyle." She hissed.
Coleen was confused, so I said,"She is our guest not me, I was the one who lived here before not Coleen. It is fine, Mommy, I can handle myself."
"She is right, Kyle. I am a grown woman now, I can cook on my own." She said looking at me.
"Sit and eat your breakfast, Coleen." I added.
Mommy avoided her contact to me, looking at the basement door. I went to the kitchen then went straight to the refrigerator to look something to cook.
Apples, avocado, potato, carrots, some meat, chicken, a pack of hotdog and a dozen eggs.
Took one hotdog and an egg then I did what I did. Place the sauce pan on the stove, open the stove, put some oil then cook the hotdog and the egg.
It only took me about 5 minutes and went to the dining room.
I saw Coleen and Mommy looking at each other, I took a step and made a noise. Both of them transferred their gazes to me, Mommy smiling and Coleen confused.
I sat beside Coleen and took the plate of rice. "So, what did you guys talked about? Mind to share?"
"Just said something to Coleen, you know, to be more matured and responsible lady." She said and stood up.
"I'll just go to my garden, you guys eat and clean that up." She added and went straight to the garden.
Coleen suddenly changed her expression and an exhale was released. What did they even talked about?
She took a spoon of rice and took a piece of an egg then chew. I didn't want to interrupt the silence of eating, so I just ate quietly.
Coleen finished her food and immediately went upstairs towards her room not even talking to me.
I finished my food and cleaned the table, even washed the dirty dishes. I went to the garden again and I saw Mommy staring at the tree. I can even hear she's talking to it, but I can't hear what she is saying.
Mommy touched the trunk of it and I didn't want to continue so I went to my room instead.
COLEEN HASINE'S POV
"Hey, Babe, what are you doing?" I heard a voice, the voice of Kyle.
I saw myself in front of the 10th door, which I don't even remember going here! I am confused, am I getting amnesia?
"The hell am I doing here?"
"I don't know, did you wake up not knowing what are you doing? Are you okay?" He said.
I hugged him and he responded back, oh dear, what's happening to me lately?
He held my hand,"Let's eat now, you must be hungry." He offered.
We went downstairs and I am still confused, then my eyes went on Mommy, she was staring at me. There was no expression laid, it was really strange.
"Okay, I'll cook my own breakfast and Coleen, sit here and eat. It's for you." He then pointed out the place where the food was there.
I was about to sit when Mommy changed her mood like she was angry.
"No, I prepared this for you. Let that girl cook her own, she's big enough to cook, Kyle." She hissed and looked at me again.
Kyle took a deep breath."She is our guest not me, I was the one who lived here before not Coleen. It is fine, Mommy, I can handle myself."
"She is right, Kyle. I am a grown woman now, I can cook on my own." I said then looked at him so it would avoid a fight or misunderstanding between them.
"Sit and eat your breakfast, Coleen." He said and went straight to the kitchen.
I have no choice but to sit and eat the food in fron of me.
I wanted to take the spoon but to no avail, I can't move my body. My head moved upward towards Mommy's direction.
We looked at each other, eye to eye, I can't even move my eyeball nor my body. I don't want to stare at someone like this, especially to someone older than me.
Beware, Coleen.
I heard a voice coming inside my head, it wasn't even my own voice and she doesn't even opened her mouth.
"Don't mess up hiding your secret, Coleen. Truth always finds itself to be revealed."
I felt something inside my body but it was something unfamiliar and weird. I felt a strong feeling but cold running in my veins, I think it was my fear.
Mommy just stared at me like forever and didn't move anything which scares me out.
I want to stop, okay? I hate this kind of staring and I can't move my own body!
I heard a creeking sound of the wooden floor, then my body was now moving on my own.
"So, what did you guys talked about? Mind to share?" Kyle walked in and sat beside me.
"Just said something to Coleen, you know, to be more matured and responsible lady." Mommy said and stood up out of her chair.
"I'll just go to my garden, you guys eat and clean that up." She added and went away.
I clearly heard her footsteps fade, that is how I released an exhale, more like the heavy feeling I got.
I finished my food and without any second thoughts, I hurriedly went upstairs to my room.
I locked my door and anxiety was flowing in me. Did she knew? Will she tell Kyle?
I can't tell him yet, it's just that I just entered it but I didn't want to.
Ting!
I received a message on my phone so I took it and sat on my bed.
Why don't you just go back here? 2 months is too long, just go back after a month. I'm counting the days by minutes, Coleen. You are needed here in the office physically, not virtually.
From: Mathias
I replied and stood up, opened my laptop and edited my report and sent it to his sss, I know he only wanted my report.
'Don't mess up hiding your secret, Coleen. Truth always finds itself to be revealed.'
What does she wanted to say?
She doesn't care about what I do in my life. What the freaking hell, I shouldn't be terrified today. Not now, I have a meeting with my boss.
It would be awkward if he saw me stressed and ugly in the video call.
I relaxed myself and took a bath, putted some makeup and charged my laptop for later.
I even do some yoga exercises I do everyday. The routine I always do.
Beware, Coleen. Beware!
That's the voice again, the voice in my head. An anonymous voice that tells me to be aware and be careful. It isn't even my own imagination or voice, something is in my head who knows my future.
