Lance recalled, "Abbot said the battle was extremely fierce back then. It was urgent, and with Dragon Ash launching a surprise night raid and burning the military camp, casualties were heavy."
"The soldiers' bodies were buried in pits. Many were burnt beyond recognition."
"Abbot identified Eugene because he saw him fighting in the flames and then being kicked back into the fire when injured. But Abbot was caught up in the intense battle himself," Adelaide said.
"It's possible Eugene crawled out when Abbot wasn't looking and was captured," she added.
"There's a chance," Lance nodded seriously.
Adelaide thought of Eugene's mother, Sibyl. Since Eugene's sacrifice, she had stayed indoors.
At the last birthday party, her appearance was a huge blow to Sibyl.
