Lycan Erasmus listened to her explanation. Though he smiled, his eyes remained sharp. "Given your past grievances with the Bloodmoon Pack, why did you come to their aid?"
"Human lives were at stake. The Bloodmoon Pack and I don't have irreconcilable differences. Moreover, as the Ironthorn Army's deputy commander, I couldn't stand by and do nothing," Adelaide replied.
Lycan Erasmus nodded slowly. "Your explanation makes sense. But did you know the invaders were after Velda?"
"I didn't know at the time. After disarming them, I had Emerson tie them up. I left once Ellen arrived," Adelaide said.
Lycan Erasmus sighed. "A pity the invaders are dead; we can't trace their backers. You fought them—any idea of their origin?"
Adelaide shook her head. "No clear idea."
