Lance realized he had been too harsh with Priscilla and apologized, "Sorry, mom, I raised my voice just now."
Priscilla replied, "You shouldn't have shouted at me. If others had seen it, they would have called you unfilial."
Lance glanced at Adelaide and said after a pause, "I understand."
Priscilla stopped drinking coffee and returned to her room.
The sky had darkened completely. The cold of the day had subsided, and a warm breeze blew.
The couple strolled hand in hand in the yard.
