chapter 2 The Broken Omega

666 Words
The Su mansion stood tall but hollow — like a once-beautiful body now rotting from within. Behind the high gates, Ivy Su carried a tray of tea down the marble corridor, her steps light but careful. Her hands trembled slightly — one mistake, one wrong movement, and she’d face the wrath of her stepmother again. “Slow! Don’t spill it, useless girl!” The shrill voice of Madam Su, her stepmother, echoed down the hall. “I told you to polish the silver before the guests arrive, not stand there like a fool!” “Yes, Ma’am,” Ivy murmured, lowering her head. She had grown used to these words. Every insult slid into her heart like another shard of glass. Her father, Mr. Su, once a respected businessman, sat in his study pretending not to hear. Ever since her mother died ten years ago, Ivy had become invisible to him — a ghost in her own home. When she returned to her small room in the servants’ wing, she finally exhaled. She placed the tray down, brushed her hair behind her ear, and looked into the cracked mirror. Her reflection was delicate — soft eyes, smooth skin, and a beauty she wished she could hide. In a world ruled by Alphas, Omegas like her were seen as ornaments — weak, emotional, easily controlled. But she didn’t want to be an ornament. She wanted to be free. That night, Madam Su burst into her room without knocking. “Ivy! Tomorrow you’re attending the Lu family gala. Our company is on the edge of collapse — we need every hand. You’ll serve drinks. Don’t embarrass us.” Ivy’s heart dropped. The Lu family… the most powerful Alpha clan in China. She had heard stories of the heir — Rose Lu — a ruthless Alpha who ruled the business world like a god. The idea of standing in the same room as her was terrifying. “Yes, Ma’am,” Ivy whispered. Her stepmother smiled coldly. “Behave well. If you shame us, don’t come back.” The next evening felt like walking into another world. The Lu Conglomerate’s ballroom shimmered with gold and chandeliers. Ivy clutched the tray tightly, her body tense as she wove through the glittering crowd. Then she saw her. Rose Lu. Standing under the chandelier in a tailored black suit, calm and untouchable. Her aura dominated the room — every Alpha, every Omega, subconsciously bowed to her presence. Ivy froze, heart pounding. Her scent, pure and shy, reached Rose even through the perfume-filled air. For a split second, those cold eyes turned toward her. The Alpha’s gaze pinned her in place like a spell. And then — disaster. A careless guest bumped Ivy’s arm, sending red wine splashing across Rose’s black silk jacket. The hall went silent. Whispers spread like fire. “An Omega servant stained Miss Lu’s suit!” “She’s dead…” Ivy fell to her knees immediately. “I-I’m so sorry, Miss Lu— please forgive me—!” Rose stared down at her, unreadable. Her assistant stepped forward, panicking. “Miss Lu, I’ll have her removed—” “Don’t,” Rose said quietly. Her voice was sharp but calm, cutting through the whispers. “It was an accident.” The crowd froze. Rose turned her gaze to Ivy — those cold eyes softened just a little. “Go. Clean up. And don’t let anyone speak to you that way again.” Ivy blinked up in disbelief. “Y-Yes, Miss Lu… thank you.” As she hurried away, her heart was pounding not from fear — but from something else. Something she had never felt before. Something that warmed the emptiness inside her. Behind her, Rose’s assistant murmured, “Miss Lu, why defend a low-class Omega?” Rose took a slow sip of wine, her expression unreadable. “Because,” she said softly, eyes following Ivy’s retreating figure, “She looked like she’s never been treated kindly before.”
