Monday rolled around and Imani found herself in first period, listening as her Physics teacher lectured. After she came back from having ice cream with Jayceone and Sky, Imani had time to sit down and think.
Crying over Xavier was a waste of time. Yea, he had her thinking something that wasn't true but every girl has their first heartbreak.
And Xavier was most def her first heartbreak.
The room door opened and the teacher stopped talking "You're late Xavier" she said before returning back to her lesson.
Imani didn't even bother to look up at him, and didn't bother to look at him when he took a seat beside her either.
From the corner of her eye, she could see him looking at her. Looking as if he wanted to say something, but he didn't.
Scribbling down notes and paying attention to the lesson, a note was thrown on her desk. Again, from the corner of her eye, Xavier watched her.
Imani grabbed the note, stood up and walked over to the trash and threw it away. Whatever Xavier had to say was officially bs and trash to her.
Like he said, whatever she think they had is over.
Xavier shook his head and turned his attention back towards the teacher. It took 3 years to get Imani's attention, and now she's ignoring him more than she was before.
Deciding to take another chance, he wrote another letter and put it on Imani's desk. She sighed loudly and turned to him.
"Can you leave me alone please?" She whispered, putting the note back on his desk.
"Just read it, Imani. Please" he begged, putting it back on her desk. She pushed the note on the floor and ignored him the rest of the class period.
The bell rang dismissing first period. Imani packed her things up and walked out of the classroom. She felt a hand grab hers and she was turned around to see a hopeless Xavier.
"what" she mumbled.
"I'm sorry for what I said iight? But trust me when I say nun of that s**t was true" Imani crossed her arms over her chest "Can we just go somewhere and talk? Let me explain"
"There's nothing to explain, now bye" she tried to walk away but Xavier pulled her back and put his hands on either side of her. "The bells about to ring"
"I don't care, now can we please go somewhere? So I can explain?"
Imani stayed quiet and looked everywhere else as Xavier stared at her, hoping for a yes. She sighed, still not looking at him.
"After school, the burger shop down the street."she said, giving in "10 minutes, if I feel like you're lying, I'm leaving"
He smiled a little and moved His hands, putting them in his pockets "Cool, I'll see you then"
"Whatever" And like that, she walked off.
No matter how much Imani wanted to admit she didn't want to see Xavier, she couldn't. She did miss him, but she knew how to hide it. Well.
By the time school was over and Imani pulled up to the burger shop, Xavier was already inside. She took a seat across from him and looked at the onion rings, burger and tea that sat in front of her.
"I knew you'd be hungry so, yea" Xavier said, watching her "I'm happy you decided to come and not stand me up"
"You know I'd never do anything hurtful like that" she said, looking out the window. "So why am I here?"
"Those things I said to you over the phone, they weren't my words."
"What are you talkin about?"
"My mom still thinks you had something to do with me ending up in jail, so when she saw me getting ready for our date, she threatened to send me to live with my aunt in New York, if I didn't break things off with u"
Imani bit into her onion ring as she listened to him talk.
"You know I'd never say no s**t like that to you, especially not since I really like and want you to be my girl. It took me almost 3 years to get close to you, and I wouldn't do nothing dumb like say I just want to f**k" he said, honestly "You believe me, right?"
"I'm not sure" she shrugged "I thought you meant those things"
"Like all I want is s*x?" He asked. Imani nodded. Xavier stood up and sat on the same seat with her "Its not true Imani, I swear its not"
"I j-"
"Remember that day me, you and Sky were at the park? And told u how I felt about you? I still feel that way, hell maybe stronger than that. I don't care if you want to wait until we get married to have s*x, I'll wait for that cause its not what my mind set on"
Imani smiled and looked at him "When we get married huh?"
He threw his arm over her shoulders, pulling her closer "Yea, when we get married" he leaned in for a kiss, and this time it wasn't just a peck. Gently sucking on her bottom lip, Xavier pulled away with it between his teeth before going back in and letting their tongues wrestle.
The tiny bell rang as the door of the shop opened. Breaking away from the kiss, Imani and Xavier watched as Lona walked in with fear written on her face.
Behind her, was Robert.
