Chapter 16
I woke up to find that I was in a room that was completely flooded with light. The light was bright, even through my eyelids.
I struggled to remember what had happened. It came back to me in a flood. My disastrous escape attempt.
That’s when the noise started. It sounded like white noise. Then over the top of that, I could make out a humming, droning noise that became louder than the white noise, drowning it out.
What was going on? Where was I?
The floor I was lying on was padded. That was weird.
The noise receded.
“Lennina.” The voice was coming into the room via a speaker. It was Dr Rowen. I really hated that woman.
I squinted and shaded my eyes and could make out an empty room with white walls. “Where am I? What happened? What are you doing?”
“You are being punished.
