He hugged me tighter. “Shhh. It’s alright. I’m here now and I’m not going anywhere.”
Once I pulled myself together, I pulled back so I could see Daniel’s face. His eyes were full of genuine concern.
“I’m sorry,” I said.
He wiped my tears away gently with his thumbs. “For what? There’s no need to apologise.”
I tried to smile.
I managed a smile at that.
He wrapped his arms around me once again and we stayed like that for a long time.
Daniel shook his head slowly and smiled at me.
He shook his head again. My cheeks warmed. Tears formed, but these were happy tears.
