Human Blood

Bianca's POV: A few hours later, I woke up with a bang on my head. Nola was dozing off beside me and I was in a hospital. Confused, I tapped Nola. "What happened?"I asked her with a low voice. Excited to see that I was awake, she hugged me first. "I should ask you,"she said. "We were about heading for the TV station when you found a paper on your door. You stared at it for a few minutes and fainted. I didn't bother to know what it was about. I just carried you into the carwith the help of others and drove down here. It's been a while since you last had a panic attack that strong. What happened? What did the paper say?" Recollecting what happened, I sighed. "The letter said they were coming for me and it was marked with what seemed like human blood" “Human blood?!” Nola exclaimed in fear. “Who are they? What do they want from you? You've always been an easy-going person. Did you get into a fight with someone dangerous that I'm not aware of?" She bombarded me with questions. "I don't know. I don't have any issues with anyone. The letter had no address or name. I got scared and panicked. That was all." "As much as I know, you haven't gotten into any fight with anyone, Bianca. I practically have to force you off your bed each day. So, where is this coming from?" She asked again. I could see worry in Nola's eyes. It wasn't absent from mine either. Where was this coming from? I sat up then. Staring into her face, she looked like she understood my worry. But, who could it be? The model industry was one big industry filled with all sorts. However, I did not think of any one capable of pulling such a threat. "Have you thought about the possibility of it being a random person just pulling a prank?"She asked me. Following her line of thought, I replied, "Yes, I have and I don't think so. Who in their right senses would pull a prank as costly as this?" Nola shrugged. "You never can tell, you know." I sighed. "Alright. Place a call to the hotel and ask for the CCTV recording of our car while we were inside. Tell them to deliver it immediately as it's a matter of life and death." "Yes, ma'am. I'll do just that." Not long after Nola left for the hotel, I got a call from my dad. Apparently, he had heard of the news. "Hello, dad." "Hi, darling. I heard the news. Are you alright?"He asked, his voice booming with concern. "I'm fine, dad. Nola's with me. How is your business trip going?" "It's very far from good, darling. Things aren't fine. It's part of the reason I am making this call. I'm doubling up your security and cameras. Also, I'm changing all the locks in the house. If possible, you can get another as well." I frowned. "What's going on?" He sighed. "Well, I had a clash with Viper… He's a drug lord. I caught some of his men while they were trying to smuggle cocaine out of the country. I got them arrested and placed in jail without any prior knowledge that they were from Viper. If I'd known, I probably would have made my name anonymous as the catcher but… it's too late now. I guess the trip meant a whole lot to him and he is threatening to get back at me by harming you."My dad explained in one breath. I was more shaken than I was willing to admit. That explained it all. "Dad, I wanted to let you know of the suspicious moves around me. About the car following my every movement and the paper I saw this afternoon leading to my arrival at the hospital… But I guess I no longer have to as I already know why and who." "Bianca, you'll have to lay low for now, please. I do not want to lose you for anything or to anyone, even more so, Viper. Please. I need you to leave the city as soon as possible. Your life depends on it. I have got an apartment for you in a remote town called North Wales. Don't worry, I'm sure no one will recognize you there. Lay low till I let you know that the coast is clear to return to the city. Just a few weeks will do, please." I heard my dad breakdown on the phone and felt I had to give him an assurance so he doesn't overthink or worry himself to death. I braced up and assured him that I was going to take care of it. I also pleaded with him not to worry if he didn't hear from me for a while as I would be laying low as he said. Between tears, my dad had no choice but to go with my plan not to communicate when I move to the remote town. I mean, if we were being monitored, it was better to stay without communication for some time. "Alright, my child. Please take care and know that I love you very, very much." "I love you too, Dad. Please take care of yourself as well. I will be fine." I hung up the call with no idea of how exactly I was going to be fine but I needed to say that for my dad's sake. My stomach rumbled. I hadn't eaten the whole day. I called on one of the nurses and got attended to. My order arrived in not less than 10 minutes. I didn't really feel like eating after such an information so I ordered a box of pizza for Nola and hot chicken soup for myself. Just as I was about helping myself to the food, Nola walked in looking really disheveled. Patting the side of my bed that was free, I greeted her. "Welcome back, Nola. Come sit." She sat down beside me and rested in my arms. "What was the outcome?"I asked. "Our suspicions were right. The video showed a man covered from head to toe in black attire and some hideous clothing. He placed the paper by your door and vanished into thin air. We couldn't even tell the direction he went. He looked like some… trained hire killer or something in that line. I'm really worried."She held my hands and I could see it in her eyes. "What do we do, Bianca?" "I'm relocating"I said simply, with a straight face. "What?"She asked in shock. I told her all that my dad had said about the drug lord and his emphasis for me to lay low. "Don't worry, you wouldn't be relocating with me. I'll send you overseas while I leave the city for some time. Let's just ensure we sort everything with our clients before we go on a break" I tried comforting her weeping heart. "Oh, Bianca. What am I going to do without you? I would be worried sick about your welfare. Can I at least stay with you?" I shook my head at her question. "No. I don't want to risk it. I'll send you to a more comfortable place overseas. There you can pursue that course you've always wanted while I keep my head alive for as long as this is going to last. My dad mentioned a few weeks, but I have a strong feeling this is going to take a lot longer than that." Seeing that I wasn't going to budge, we held each other and cried like babies. This wasn't the tough day we'd expected earlier today. Two days later, we parted ways. I silently reached out to every one of our partners, brands and made the necessary calls. Nothing was to be said of me at the moment till I can confirm our safety. Midnight the third day, I left the city. My life cannot end at 25.
