“Go. I’ll deal with them. Get the kids in the basement and alert the others. I think the fight just came to us.”
I ran as fast as my legs would carry me into the main halls of the inn. Liam, Zane, and Christopher were ahead of me, ushering the other guests as well as my children and nurses down to the basement. I ran behind them, grabbing whatever I could to help. As we reached the basement, I handed out the clothes, bottled water, and containers of food before rushing back upstairs.
“Please, make sure they are protected, Liam. Zane, Christopher, you are with me. I don’t know what is going to happen. Any other able-bodied individuals, please join us upstairs. The council is trying to eliminate what they see as a threat and, unfortunately, that threat is me.”
