I watched Sarah head to her room before turning my attention to the task at hand. I felt a little hand snake around my waist and spun around to meet Jayce’s stare.
“She will be fine. She’s a tough cookie. Poor thing had to be with everything she went through growing up. I’m just upset I couldn’t do more for her. I feel like, in some weird way, I had something to do with how she was raised. My dad always said that Sarah’s father was a powerful man, but he was one of the good ones.
