I turned my head to see where the voice came from, and it was Adrien. He looked amazing, wearing a black top that accentuated his muscles, his hair freshly cut and styled to the side. He looked even better than the last time I saw him.
No, no, Rose, stop it. He will never like you; stop drooling over him.
I shifted my gaze to Travis, who looked like he was going to poop his pants. Adrien walked closer to us and pulled me into his arms, scanning my face and body. "What are you doing here?" he asked, his eyes never leaving mine. But I pushed him away from me. I saw a flicker of shock in his eyes, but it disappeared as quickly as it came.
I wasn't sure what annoyed me more: the fact that he thought he could pull me into his arms like that, or the fact that he had the audacity to question me after treating me like trash without an explanation. I didn't care that he was an alpha's son; I wasn't going to let him push me around. I need to move on.
"Last time I checked, this is a free party and I don't need your permission to get in," I said, holding his gaze.
"You're coming with me," he said, pulling my hand, but I dragged my arm away from his hold.
"NO!" I yelled. "I'm not going anywhere with you."
"Listen to me, omega, this is a party and it's not for girls like you. You shouldn't be here. Come with me, I'll take you home," he said in a low voice, as if trying to convince me, and he stretched out his hand.
Girls like me? What the hell does he mean by "girls like me"? I'll show him what girls like me are made of.
"I don't know if you're deaf or your brain is just too slow to process words, but I'll do you a favor and repeat myself," I said, walking closer to him and facing him eye to eye. "I-am-not-going-anywhere-with-you."
I spoke slowly, and I could see the shock on his face and the face of the other student. But he grabbed my arm and pulled me closer.
"You're probably drunk, you don't know what you're saying. Let's go, it's not safe here," he said, but I pushed him away. He staggered backward a little, and I could hear the students whispering, but I didn't care anymore. He had hurt me way too much, and I was done letting him have his way.
"I'm not drunk. Get lost, Adrien," I snapped, my voice firm. The whispers around us grew louder, but I held Adrien's gaze, refusing to back down. I was done being the naive girl he bullied, done being the laughing stock. I didn't care what happened next; I wouldn't back down.
The whispers escalated into a chorus of speculation. "Oooo, she's going to get it." "Adrien will make her pay." "He'll probably tell his dad, Alpha Atlas, to banish her from the pack." "She went too far; she shouldn't speak to an alpha's son like that. She's a weak omega." "I feel bad for her; she's just a poor girl. I hope he doesn't kill her."
Adrien's voice cut through the din. "Enough!" The room fell silent, with nobody daring to breathe loudly.
"Rose," he called my name gently, sending shivers down my spine. He had never addressed me by my name before; it was always "omega."
"Why are you here?" he asked, his eyes searching mine. "You don't like parties, or..." He paused, his gaze piercing. "Are you truly in love with Travis?"
I replied boldly, without thinking. "Yes."
Adrien's eyes flashed red, and I saw a flicker of pain and disappointment before he masked it. He moved closer, grabbing my arm harshly. I tried to pull away, but his grip was too strong, and I knew it would leave a mark. Just then, another hand grasped my other arm, its touch gentle in contrast to Adrien's.
"Please, Adrien, let her go," Travis pleaded in a low, shaky voice, audible enough to capture Adrien's attention. Adrien loosened his grip on my arm and pulled me behind him, facing Travis eye to eye. Travis avoided Adrien's gaze, his eyes fixed on the floor.
"And if I don't?" Adrien asked, a smirk playing on his lips. Travis remained silent, unable to muster a response. Adrien's smile broadened. "That's what I thought," he said, before pulling me out of the house forcefully. Nobody dared intervene, and I couldn't blame them. Adrien's strength and influence far surpassed ours, and anyone who dared challenge him would face repercussions. Nobody in their right mind would stand up to Adrien, unless they had a death wish. Travis had attempted to, but ultimately backed down. I didn't blame him either; it was his birthday, and he likely didn't want to risk any physical altercations.
Adrien forced me into the car, locked the door, and sped away at an alarming rate, making my heart skip a beat. His eyes had transformed into a menacing red, and his anger was palpable. I knew better than to utter a word; all my courage had vanished, replaced by a sobering realization: what had I done? I had talked back to Adrien Blackwell. What was I thinking? The girl from earlier had been right; I had gone too far. My anger had clouded my judgment, and now I would face the consequences. I should have stayed home.
My gaze fell upon my arm, which Adrien had harshly pulled. What would he do to me now?
The car screeched to a halt, and Adrien turned to me, his face still twisted with anger. "Get down," he growled in a low, menacing tone. I glanced around, realizing we were in front of my house. Lost in thought, I hadn't even noticed the direction we were heading.
Without hesitation, I reached for the door handle, but Adrien's voice halted me. "Anytime I see you anywhere near Travis, I'll kill him," he hissed, his words sending shivers down my spine.
I didn't dare respond. I simply got down from the car, and Adrien sped away, leaving me shaken and intimidated.
