I stepped out of the boardroom, the hum of conversation fading behind me. The weight of Adrian’s words still lingered, but there was another matter gnawing at the back of my mind. I pulled out my phone, scrolling to Anna’s number. I hesitated for a while, thumb hovering over the call button.
Why am I even doing this? I thought to myself. “The deal is approved, the board is on board… I shouldn’t have to call her personally.”
