‘You’ve not lost him again, have you?’
Mandy offered a token chortle, greeting Jo in the corridor as she stepped into her office. Jo followed and Mandy replied over her shoulder as she hung her coat on the back of the door, ‘He’s getting bacon sarnies from Jean in the canteen; we need to eat. What time is it anyway?’
Jo looked at her watch, ‘Two thirty, and please don’t tell me to go to the dentist.’ Mandy chortled at what would have been an instant rejoinder from Jack, “tooth hurty – better go to the dentist then”. She laughed but realised it was relief she felt, relief she had found Jack. ‘Right, before he gets back, what’s the dope on this cockney bird, Della?’ Jo asked, breaking Mandy’s trance.
