Chapter 2

"I'll show you around the house," I said, gesturing for Ethan to follow me. He smiled, and we walked through the lavish corridors, me pointing out various artworks and antiques. Ethan listened intently, asking thoughtful questions and making witty remarks. As we turned a corner, I stopped in front of a large window overlooking the gardens. "This is one of my favorite spots in the house," I said, feeling a sense of pride. Ethan's eyes lit up with interest. "It's beautiful," he said, stepping closer to the window. As we stood by the window, Ethan asked me about the history behind the house and the artwork. I found myself opening up to him, sharing stories about my family's history and the pieces that held sentimental value. Ethan listened attentively, his eyes sparkling with genuine interest. I felt a sense of connection with him, which surprised me. Maybe it was the way he asked questions or the way he smiled, but I found myself wanting to share more. As we continued the tour, Emily and Lily tagged along, playing a game of hide-and-seek among the rooms. Max joined in, teasing Ethan about his lack of knowledge about the house. The atmosphere was lighthearted, and for a moment, I forgot about the expectations and pressures that came with being part of my family.
