Dr Winter’s POV The scent of ginger wakes me up from a frightening dream. My eyes flutters as I take in my surroundings. A big figure lowers in front of me and my blurry vision later recognises Geron’s morning face. For a bug guy, he looks ironically gentle in the morning. “Wakey wakey.” His pleasant smile does a good job in pulling away all the scare from the nightmare. “I brought you tea.” “Ginger?” I ask as I look at the small teacup in his hand. He drops the cup on the floor and lowers himself to sit against the door next to me. “Yes, your favorite. With sprinkles of grinded turmeric.” My eyes dash to meet his as a smile stretches on my face. “Thank you, that's too kind Geron.” His eyes softens as he holds my gaze. “Anything for you.” He says as his brown honey-like eyes lower to my lips. I clear my throat and look away. Most people working under me believe I have a secret affair with my bodyguard, and on days like this it's so easy to fall for him. But I didn't get this far in life by doing things that are convenient. I can feel his eyes boring into the side of my head as I lift the hot tea to my lips. Some days, i wish my life could be simple like others. Fall in love with the man who loves you, but I can't. My stupid heart would rather travel a thousand miles back to a town that casted me out and killed my spirit, all just to see a familiar devil’s face. It doesn't make sense. Maybe it's my ego and not my heart, but coming to WestMoon was the most risky decision I've taken in the last six years. I hope I wouldn't regret it. “Don't tell me you slept outside Kael’s door all night.” Geron breaks the silence with a low laugh. I stare at him and scoff. My back was killing me and my butt was hurting badly, and the mahogany door i had rested on for hours wasn't made to be a pillow apparently, as it left me with a banging headache. “WestMoon is not safe.” Geron laughed at me. “Come on, this is the pack house. We’re safe.” Flashbacks of Raina’s life in WestMoon flickers in my mind, and I shiver quietly as my voice lowers dramatically. “You don't know this town like i do.” Geron stills and he stares at me with a questioning look. “But this is your first time in WestMoon. Right?” A scoff draws out from my throat and I return the teacup to Geron’s wide hand. “Of course.” Grunting, I struggle to rise back on my cold feet. “Thanks for the tea, I should check on Kael now.” He nodded and rose to his feet as well. “I’ll be downstairs, preparing the vehicles to get us out of here.” After another thank you and a flash of a polite smile, I open the door and walk into Kael’s room. The bedsheets are rumpled and scattered. I shake my head and kiss my teeth. This boy sleeps like a bear. “I see you’re up already.” I say as I sit on the bed, facing the shut bathroom door. I can hear the quiet dribbling of water from the shower. “Bathing already? Someone's learned one or two good habits in a few hours. I guess coming to WestMoon wasn't a bad idea afterall.” He says nothing but the shower keeps pouring. Heaving a sigh, I can feel the weight of stress pulling me down. “I’m sorry, Kael for making us leave so soon. I know you deserve a stable home and it's unfair to always travel everytime. I'm sorry.” He remains quiet and I can't bear him being angry at me. “I promise this is the last time.” I say desperately as my fingers intertwine nervously. Breaking promises was something i promised never to do to my child but the busy nature of my work never permits me to keep most. “Kael, say something.” I plead. The shower keeps running quietly. “Kael?” I whisper, rising from the bed and walking to the bathroom door. My head is pressed to the door and I can't hear him. I activate my wolf’s hearing and normally, I should hear his noisy breathing and the constant thump of his heartbeat, but i hear nothing apart from the water. I push the door open and a gasp draws out of my lips as no one is in there. The shower is leaking and faulty. “Oh my!” I exclaim as i rush back into the bedroom and look around frantically. “Kael!” I yell out as I notice the open window. Kael!!!! ################### It's been hours since i found out my little boy is missing. Missing for the second time in less than twenty four hours. Since that early morning hours to the golden hours of evening, I’ve battled the voices in my head and they’ve finally won. The packhouse is eerily quiet with the large number of people in it. Distant marching of patrols echo in my ear as I rock in the basket chair I’ve been sitting in all day. Xavier had ordered his guards to surround me and not allow me leave their sight. Such a cruel, insensitive individual. I need to find my son but i’m stuck here because Xavier thinks i’ll hurt myself or do something crazy. The last batch of search teams just returned without my Kael. The voices keep getting louder with each passing second. Everyone has been super nice to me, especially Jayda. She's been quiet all day and had even offered me food. I guess that rude sister of mine knows how terrible it is to have a missing child. My Kael. Tears starts flowing down my cheeks again. I should have never come back to WestMoon. As I sob quietly, rocking my drained self in the basket chair, hope comes running to me in dirty khakis. “Geron!” I say, jerking up to my feet. As he approaches with a group of my other guards, I notice there's no little boy amongst them. I shake my head as hope flickers off faster than it had come. “No,no,no…” I say, crumbling to my knees. The guards lift me back up to the chair. “The Alpha needs you safe and—” “Hell to your Alpha!” I cry out, gnawing at them with my fingers like a deranged person. “I need my son!” As i struggled with the guards, Geron got to me and separated me from them. “Kael’s been found.” He said. My ears ring as his words settles in my brain like manna to a starving man. “What!” I exclaim, turning to face Geron. He’s beaming with smiles. “Yes, Kael’s been found.” I jump on him excitedly, and he catches me with a tight embrace. “Thank you so much, Geron.” I’m breathless with joy as tears rush down my face. “I don't know what I’ll do without you. Deep down, I knew you’ll find my boy.” I withdraw from his rock-hard body and exchange brief hugs to the guards i had been gnawing at moments ago. “Where's Kael now?” I ask Geron. “At the hospital.” “All alone?” I gasp as fear kicks in again. Geron shakes his head. “No, he’s with WestMoon’s Alpha.” My heart stops beating for a second. “Xavier!” I snap, heat rising to my face. “Why is he with my son?” “He found and saved him.”
