EVELYN'S POV The morning sun spilled through the curtains. I brought my hands up to shield my eyes from the rays. I groaned, rolling in the king sized bed. A knock made me freeze. I shot up from the bed as the person on the other side didn't wait for a response as they rushed in with hurried movements. I furrowed my brows at the maids, What the hell? The first one to enter froze at the door when our gaze locked. Her eyes widened slightly, taking in my appearance. Yeah lady… tell me about it. I probably looked like an orphaned raccoon. They quickly recovered from their shock as they scurried around, putting everything in order. I walked down the stairs after being assaulted by the maids. I had to beg them before they let me bathe myself. That was some serious princess treatment but I wasn't going to let another person wash me. But now my heart filled with a new mission. “I'll tell you everything once we get to your uncle's house.” I had to find Caleb. I walked past the dining room, the whole area empty, bare. Steadying myself of what was to come. After a painfully long silence, Caleb spoke. “I'm going to go by the order of importance” I nodded in agreement. Order of importance. That sounded like a good plan. He shuffled on his feet, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his denim. He hesitated and I could feel my inner self dying of anticipation. “Anytime now” He let out a sigh, pinning me with his gaze and spoke. “You're getting married” “Say what now?” His eyes hardened, “In two weeks, you're getting married. As of right now, you were betrothed, even before your parents death.” The air seemed to freeze, my pulse erratic. My whole world seemed to tilt. What the-
