"The pack are getting worried. You're of the age and we haven't gotten any news of the Luna yet" The ministers bow down.
"Yes my lord. We have brought many young wolves of sacred ties and blood...but you rejected them all. This is a very pressing matter that needs to be addressed" Another minister added.
I look at them, watching them pass secret stares to each other.
"And do you all have any suggestion for me?" I ask the question they have been awaiting.
"Eh...who are we to suggest a partner for the Great Alpha?"They ask, still keeping their head down.
"It seems as though you have someone in mind" I say, seeing through their facade.
"We were thinking about Lady Talia as the Luna...."
"Not only is she equipped with knowledge of battles. She's also smart enough to lead the pack bedside you"
"Yes my lord. We also know that she has a strong relationship with the wolves if the pack."
They look at me, awaiting my response as I tapped my fingers on the armchair.
"My Lord?"
"I've heard your concerns. I'll get back to you in our next meeting" I stood up and walk out, Cade trailing beside me till we got to my chambers.
"They have all been bribed or promised something" Cade says my thoughts out.
"I met her...." I take off my shirt and enter the pool in my trousers.
"Talia?"
"My mate...I saw her when I went to the Rogue's town...with two kids" I look up to watch his suprised look.
"T-Two kids?...Are you sure it's her?"
"I can't mistake her scent. She already started her own family while I was searching the world for her" I said bitterly, recalling how those kids looked at me.
"That's tragic. Have you broken off the bond?"
"I tried....but I couldn't. My wolf wouldn't let me."
I had tried breaking it off the night I got back, but I was left with a throbbing headache, body in sweats.
My wolf had a mind of it's own. It didn't want to let go of her, even though she already go of us first.
It did not understand that we were not wanted, that we were rejected. It still believed that we had hope.
"But she didn't break off your mate's bond...." He reasoned. "What if they are not hers?"
Now that caught my attention.
"That's right. Why didn't she break off the bond?" I ask myself, trying to notice anything amiss.
"Mating another wolf while being marked by a different person is a rate occurrence. Is that what this is" He ask.
"They called her mom. It has to be this. Maybe her wolf did not want to break the bond too" I answered and he nodded in understanding.
"If that's the case, you have no choice. You have to make Talia your Luna since you have nothing stopping you" He frowned, not liking the sound of that.
"It seems like we do not have a choice in this alliance. I better get it done with" I sigh, walking out of the pool.
He walked over to me and handed me a towel.
"Let me in!!, Who are you to stop me?!?" That particular screeching voice yelled out annoyingly.
"Let her in" I called out to the guards. Talia walk up to us in her ridiculously high heels.
She look at Cade who showed her no sign of acknowledgement. With a scoff, she came to my side and intwined our arms.
"Eryx dear. Tell your guards to let me in whenever I come to you. I don't know why all your servants do not respect me" She tries pouting but did a very bad job.
Is this the clown I am going to be wed to?
Gently removing her arm from mine, I turn to her, looking directly into her eyes.
"Firstly, we are not engaged or bound by any law. Secondly, my men are not charged with the responsibility of showing respect to anyone else apart from me" I spell out, making it clear to her.
She watch me for a few seconds and then bursted into fits of forced laughter.
"I'm kidding. You do not have to sound so serious. I came here to ask for your permission in screening the new maids assigned to your chambers" She smile.
"Do as you wish" I walk out, going to my room to get dressed.
I look at my walk-in closet and decided to settle with black sweatpants and hoodie.
A night was coming, a night of the full moon where wolves are allowed to come out in the woods to run and hunt.
I gain so much thrill during activities like that. Little wolves turning for the first time. Low howls made by weak wolves trying to escape the strong.
"My Lord, there's something you urgently need to see" Cade called from outside, stressing on the word 'urgently'.
I groaned and stood up from my bed, aggressively opening the door.
"What now?!?" I needed to sleep but I couldn't. Lots of meetings amd court cases to deal with.
"Talia is yelling at the new maids. There seem to be a commotion downstairs" I run my hand through my head and marched down.
I got there and saw a roll of new maids in their uniform, heads bowed down.
"What are you doing here?" Talia yell.
Mate.
I didn't have to walk close to be able to smell her. White lotus and vanilla.
I look at all the maids till my gaze fell on hers. Her red hair was tied into a messy bun, her head still bowed down.
"Rise" I commanded, watching her raise her head, her black eyes meeting mine. She gasps suprised, her lips forming an 'o'.
I look at her features clearly. Pink lips. Cute dainty nose— Stop it Eryx!!, She's not yours.
She immediately looks down, avoiding my gaze, her hands folded on her stomach.
"Welcome, my lord" She looked up and smirked.
