Aria.
I thought I was safe. I thought I left everything behind, every single trace of that night.
How wrong I was.
4 months later, Freya sensed the heartbeat of a little one in me. I knew she was right, but I ignored it.
How dare I carry the child of the most dangerous predator, the most dangerous werewolf to ever live? My bulging stomach HAS to be a product of my love for food...not this.
I was in denial for about two weeks, until I felt a strong pain in my stomach. I passed out and Freya called a doctor who examined me and said "I hear two very strong heartbeats in you. You are blessed, young one."
Freya knocked him out and wiped his memory immediately after we noticed that he was getting suspicious.
A bounty had been placed on my head the very next day after that night. Everyone became wary of each other, trying to win the promised post and gold coins from the bounty.
My life was now in danger...and the lives of my babies.
Freya didn't need to ask. I was keeping the pregnancy. I couldn't end the lives of two healthy children. I am everything but heartless. So we continued running until we reached a town as deadly as it was safe.
I was already preparing to give birth and we knew that this was the only place the Alpha dare not come to.
The only place filled with people...people whose hearts were clouded with resentment.
At the same time, I had to be careful. If they realised that the children of the Alpha were here, they could kidnap them and use it against the Alpha.
Not that he'd care about us. He could easily tell them to chop our heads off, as we are not enough to bring him to his knees.
Freya said not to worry, as she could use a spell to change the colour of their eyes, from gold to brown, like everyone else.
We stayed here for three years after the twins were born. No one cared about each other and that was the perfect attitude needed to survive.
We made friends with an old granny, Lily, who named the twins Damon and Diana. I also met Ryan, a blonde haired hunter who filled the void of a missing parent for the kids.
We made sure to keep the secret, even from Lily and Ryan. Trust no one. Freya made sure to drill that into my head.
"Mummy!!" Diana ran to me, her smile literally reaching her eyes.
"Yes, little one?" I carried her into my arms.
"Damon said he wanted dumplings" She whispered in my ear as Damon walked over to us.
"Damon or you??" I squinted my eyes at her, knowing clearly that she was asking for herself.
"I already ate mine yesterday. It's Damon" She pouted, looking away.
"Damon?" I questioned him. I knew he doesn't eat dumplings. He always ended up giving his to Diana.
"I want dumplings" was his reply.
This was not the first time he had covered up for her. He is very smart and mature for a three year old and hardly talks. With a defeated sigh, I put Diana down.
"Go and wear your cloaks" I told them, going inside to wear mine. I made sure to tuck my hair inside the hood.
Freya was outside in her herbal medicine shop in front of the house.
"We're going to get dumplings. Are you coming along?" I asked, holding jumpy Diana's hand.
"I'll be right behind you. Go on ahead" She replied, proceeding to close the shop.
"Okay."
We got to the market faster than usual because Diana was impatient.
"There. Old Granny is almost out of her dumplings" Diana practically ran to meet her.
"Hello my cute potato. What do you need Granny to help you with??" She playfully pinched Diana's cheeks.
"Dumplings!! Dumplings!!" Diana jumped happily.
"Oh dear!! What shall I do? I just sold the last batch for the day" She said as we watched Diana's face fall drastically, tears already pooling in her eyes.
"Thanks Granny, we'll come another—"
"But I can quickly make new ones for you. How'd you like that?" She asked, making Diana's frown turn upside down as she wiped her tears.
"Granny, you don't have to" I protested.
"They are my kids too Aria, let me take care of them" She gave a warm smile then walked in to prepare the dumplings.
"I told you to stop crying at every little thing" I scolded Diana who paid no attention to me.
In less than ten minutes, the hot dumplings were ready. I paid her, adding to her money for the extra work Diana had caused her.
"I'm not taking this from you. You don't need to add to the price" She frowned.
"Please take it. I'll be left feeling guilty if you do not" I pleaded. She finally gave up and took the money.
"Mom...your hood is down" Damon called out, his first words since we got here.
"Thank you. I didn't even notice it came down" I pulled it back up, grabbed their hands and started walking away.
A lady walked up to us, her eyes white as if she was under a spell. "Take a detour home. Someone is tailing you. I'll handle it." Then the woman walked away.
I knew the message was from Freya. I walked faster, taking an empty route, a dark passage.
"Mom, what's going on?" Damon asked.
I paused and turned to him.
"Take your sister, go and look for help. Freya or Ryan. They are probably in the house to ambush us. Go!!" I urged, pushing them away. Damon took her hand and started running, Diana crying behind him.
I walked to the house and was met by an army of soldiers surrounding me. A young, beautiful and elegant lady stood in the middle, eyes fixed on me.
She looked to my side and noticed I was alone. She sent two of her men away, probably to find the kids.
Please find help, you both. I silently prayed.
"Hello, Aria."
