The Ford truck lights faded as Everette drove down the road, away from campus. I’d see him next week, at least, that was the plan. Zander and Kinsley stayed behind. We were all worried about how Zander would handle being on a campus full of humans. Mum and dad said their goodbyes before Everette, and I drove off. Now he drove off without me. Six hours earlier “Do you have absolutely everything?” Everette asked as he leaned against the door frame to my bedroom. “I’m absolutely positive,” I said sliding my backpack over my shoulder. “This should be the last of it.” “Should be?
