Chapter 19
Xavier's POV
The smoke has finally cleared up and now we are steadily trying to sift through the debris to see if anything at all can be salvaged. We did have a few casualties from the fire and two people are still missing besides our/my Luna. We have been working since dawn and I haven't stopped to sleep or rest. I had to keep moving, the pain of not having Waverly by my side safe and sound was slowly eating away at myself and Rom. He was worse as he felt it more than I did. I could feel his sorrow and anger, hell borderline rage at his missing Luna. If she didn’t get back to us soon there is no telling the rampage Rom will go on, and I will not be able to stop him. Out of nowhere there was a sharp pain in my chest. So much so that I sucked in my breath at the sudden pain. It was like knives running through my heart, and my soul. My veins pumping the pain all throughout my body. 'What's happening to us Rom?' I could barely talk to him even if it was via my mind. I could visually see him whimpering and putting his paws over his head in an attempt to stop the pain. 'MATE' was all he could whisper to me. What are they doing to her? The pain is so much my breathing became erratic. Rom's whimpering became louder in my head, he couldn't take the pain either and he was feeling it more than I was. 'XAVIER!' Rom yelled out and then there was silence. The pain was still excruciating, my breathing wouldn't even out as black spots started to cloud my vision. I could hear others coming to my aid. They were all talking and asking me if I was ok, my father I know called out for Doc to get here quickly. As the silence of sleep, was pulling at my mind and body, I made out what one person said. "They have started their spell. When it is over, he will fill a loss he may not be able to bare." Bema spoke the words with sorrow and worry etched into her voice. Just before I closed my eyes I could hear Doc as well saying. "We must move him to the pack hospital and keep an eye on him, until Waverly completes her mission. May the Moon Goddess and the Goddess of Light help her overcome this battle and save our Alpha."
Bema's POV
The Alpha has been in a coma since the pain of the separation spell started last week. Granted I was able to enchant the young Luna with the dampening spell, it seems that they were more powerful than I was lead to believe. "Why moon goddess and goddess of light? Why not let me know how powerful the spell would've been I could've eased this pain some. At least enough he could still be awake." I was upset with the Gods, but I guess most people are always angry with them. The Gods like to do their own things and give small details and riddles, testing you and hoping that you can read between the lines. I am normally so happy and cheerful even in the darkest of moments, but not today. Today I haven't smiled or spoken to anyone, not even my mate. Thomas has been keeping an watch along the border with the rest of the border patrol, just in case they decided to come back while we are at our weakest. I really hope that doesn't happen but with this kind of evil, there really is no telling what they will do. Thomas has been mind-linking me all morning, but I just keep blocking him out. I feel like a failure to the goddesses, but mostly to Waverly and Xavier. My spell would only help with the marking if Gideon tried to mark her. It wouldn't take and it would have to be done every day to keep up a ruse over her. Otherwise all of her memories of Xavier and their love would flood back causing a lot of emotional and mental confusion. All his efforts will be in vain, I just hope that she can break through the darkness holding her hostage in her mind and take back her body and destroy Gideon and the dark witch for good.
'Bema please talk to me. I can feel how upset and depressed you are, and I know that this is not like you. Sunshine please… please just talk to me.' Thomas sounds so desperate to help me, but I need to just be alone. I hope he will understand why I need to just think and try to see if there is anything that I can do for the Alpha. It's my fault he is like this. Only if I was better prepared and really paid more attention to what the Moon Goddess told me I would have seen this coming. I would have known they were going to be more witches working with them. That is the only way this could've happened. The dampening spell was only able to dampen her feeling of pain, but it seems to have enhanced his.
I sighed loudly to myself. If someone would've seen me they would definitely see the frustration evident on my face. Standing up from my seat in the Alpha's hospital room I walked towards the door to, pausing for just a moment I looked back at him. Lying with pain still etched across his face and small beads of sweat forming on his brow. "I vow with my life to help you get her back and pull you out of this misery. I will not fail this time, I promise you." I whispered to him. I walked out of the hospital towards the old pack house before they had built the current one that is now ashes scattered across the territory. I was able to save some books thanks to the way the library and Waverly's office were set up. Luckily I think that one of those books may help me reach the Alpha in the void and try to steer him back to the world of the present.
_______________
Gideon's POV
My beautiful mate has been here a whole week and Cleo will not let me into her room to see her. I am growing quiet frustrated at having her so close and yet she is still so far away. I have had it, I slammed my fist onto my desk cracking the corner of it just a little. I am going to see her today! I am the Alpha here and this is my land and pack. That stupid witch will not keep me away from her I don't care if she is the mirror door for Ravannah, she is MINE and only MINE! I stood from my seat and headed down the hall to see my mate.
"I am sorry Alpha, but she isn't awake yet and like Miss Cleo has said before you must be patient and wait just a little while longer. I am sorry but I cannot let you in." she said and then stood back in front of the door she has been guarding all week. She is about 5'6 with long dark brown hair and golden hazel eyes mixed with black as they swirl together letting you know she is tainted like the rest of us here. This b***h has pushed my buttons. She is one of two dark witches that Cleo had summoned here and they are a rare breed so I don't even know how she knew where to find the others, but this one was going to be on the receiving end of my wrath. I could feel Hades scratching at the surface, my eyes dilating and turning onyx the way they have done since that fateful night. I grabbed her by her throat bringing her up off the floor and pulling her to my face. I am taller than her so her feet were dangling as she gasped and tried to pry my hand off of me. "I DID MY PART! I WILL NOT WAIT ANY LONGER FOR MY REWARD! DO YOU HEAR ME!! UNFORTUNATELY FOR YOU I CAN'T HOLD HADES BACK ANY LONGER.." pulling her even closer to me, my breath fanning her face that looked back at me in horror. " I hope you got everything you wanted out of this life, because you won't have one here soon." I wasn't even talking anymore it was all Hades. As he pulled her back to look into his eyes, she looked back with fear and realization that she wasn't going to live much longer. Hades always loved the kill and watching her hope of living die in her eyes, was like icing on the cake for him. He ate that s**t up. With a devilish smile Hades shoved our hand into her chest and ripped her heart out. He crushed her heart in his hand, throwing them both down, he waltzed into our mate's room with a predatory look on our face.
"Alpha, you are not supposed to be in here. Where is Katarah, she is supposed to be guarding the door." The other dark witch was standing be my mate's bed, looking at me and getting in a protective stance. We growled at her so loud it shook the room we were in. "I suggest that you step aside, unless you want to end up like your friend outside." I smirked at her, eyes burning with the hopes she would attack. Hades enjoyed killing the other one and I could feel his hopes for her to challenge him so that he could watch the life fade from her eyes as well. "Y-you kill-killed her?" she asked with a broken voice as she took a step back from me while placing her hands up in a surrendering way. 'What a pity, I truly thought she would have put up a fight.' Hades grinned that evil killer grin, and took a step towards the witch. This one as shorter than the other she was only about 5 foot if that. She had short strawberry blonde hair and lite grey colored eyes that held the same swirl of black in them as the other one. I was now towering over her, still grinning at her. "I suggest that you run along now, before I have a change of heart." without hesitation she darted around us and headed out the door. A small scream escaped her mouth as soon as she got into the hallway. 'I think she found her friend, don't you Hades' he just chuckled at what I said and the turned his attention to the only person we wanted to see in this room.
'Mate' he breathed out. I could feel some of his rage subsiding as he got closer to her sleeping form. 'Let's mark her now, make her ours.' I didn’t have to tell him twice. He slid her head to the side, breathing in her scent before driving our canines into the soft spot above her collar bone. The metallic taste of her blood flowed into our mouth, as a sharp gasp come from her. Her back arching from the bed, I could hear and feel her heart beating erratically. We pulled back from our mark, licking it to make sure it healed. Leaning back down I placed a kiss to her forehead and pulled the covers back around her. "Rest my little mate. Soon you will awake and we will start our lives together. Just you and me ruling the world together and destroying anyone who gets in our way." with that I slipped out of her room and back down to my office. I will have to deal with Cleo, but I didn’t care. My wolf was at ease and so was I and that is all that mattered to me at the moment.
