A legend told for generations, vil over time get twisted and changed as it travels from mouth to mouth in smaller or larger groups. Now written down to not fade in to myth and forgotten. But can the words written be trusted, or has the legend been twisted to much already.
**Alex POV**
My blood ran cold when I heard the gunshots from the direction of our house. As I looked at Elena I could se the fear in her eyes as tears started rolling down her cheeks. Her eyes flickered a deep purple and before I could even register anything Storm took over and ran at full speed towards the house.
“After her!” Hunter screamed inside of my head, and I shifted with in seconds chasing after her. “Faster, faster, faster we have to catch up to her” Hunter is freaking out. I don’t really understand Hunter and the bond between Me and Elena. Hunter almost wants to me with Storm more then Ary, Aurora’s wolf, our mate. Hunter feels the need to be with Storm in a protective way, which I am honestly really happy about because I really want to keep Elena safe. But I am also curious of what would happen if we ever come in a situation where we have to choose between our mate and Elena.
Please don’t do anything stupid Elena please I was freaking out scared for my little sisters safety. Me and Hunter are still trying to catch up to here but she just gets further and further away. Storm and Elena are fast, really fast I don’t really know anyone the could beat her in a one on one rase, although I don’t real think she realizes how fast she actually is as the only person she has ever been able to compare herself to is me and we don’t really race we mostly just run together having an end destination and sometimes seeing who comes first. Most of the times I do come first because of the fact that I normally find a shortcut.
I lost her, no, I can’t se here anywhere. I keep running and sniffing trying to catch her sent to figure out her direction. I got it. I keep running following her sent. There was what seemed to be paw prints on the ground which had a thin layer of white covering the place where paw print were placed that I noticed as I was running, but I didn’t really focus on it as I was to busy still trying to catch up to Elena.
The noises where now becoming louder and louder as we came closer to our house. I finely spotted Elena on the hill overlooking our home standing beside an old oak tree that had a tier swing tied on one of the lower branches.
She was about to run in to the middle of the battlefield, but before she could I jumped at her from the side pining her down to the ground, my paws immediately getting stung by how cold she was to the touch, but I ignored it and kept focusing on her. Her purple eyes were filled with tears and she was visibly trembling in fear. Trying to fight back and get out of my grip, but it was futile I had the upper hand and still being fiscally stronger then her. I mind linked her trying to calm her down.
“Ele you need to calm down please”. No answer, she just kept struggling against me. “Calm down and breath”. She suddenly snapped.
“No, no, NOO. Don’t tell me to calm down mom and dad are in battle fighting for there lives and you want me to calm down and stay back watching as those hunters kill them. NO, I refuse, I wouldn’t let them die alone. I am going to fight with them, so let me go NOW.” She practically screamed inside my head tears breaking from her eyes.
When she was done talking I replied to here as calmly as I could “I am not letting you go, I can let you of the ground if you shift back but I am not letting you go. There is nothing we can do. If we go out there we are only going to get ourselves killed and we both know quite well that mom and dad wouldn’t want that.” After I said that I lifted my gaze as I looked out over our home and the raging battle that is happening right outside the front entrees. Our home is a big overgrown mansion, that was purposely not cleaned or maintained on the outside for people to believe that it was just an abandoned mansion in the middle of the woods.
The gunshots where ringing in my ears. There where probably close to 100 hunters in black suits out there still standing fighting, and a mess of dead body’s and a thick layer of red blood covering the ground. In the middle of it was to wolfs fighting, both covered in blood and badly injury. One I identified as mother slightly on the smaller side compared to the other wolf she was a light brown with white features like mine. One strip down the center of her face, her paws and the tip of her tail, but she also had white spots on her back to. The other wolf my father a bit on the larger side, and stand at about chest height to the hunters. His fur a dark gray. Both of them at bright yellow eyes.
But something is off I can tell. They should not be that injured. Yes there are a lot of hunters, and yes they have already taken down over half of the hunters. But something is off. My family is strong, really strong. We are capable of taking down a small size pack with anywhere from 50 - 75 wolfs on our own. By we I mean me, mom and dad as Elena is still training and getting stronger. And we are purposefully hiding her out of sight from as many as we can, the less that know about her for now the better. Our ally’s don’t even know about her.
It is our strength that has allowed us to gain ally’s with a couple wolf packs and other groups of shifters even though we are considered as rouges and generally not tolerated.
I look down at Elena again “Do you want to shift back?”. She didn’t answer me, I just felt her body start to shift back and her cold skin normalizing and going back to a normal slightly warm, but nice to the touch temperature.
I also shifted back and grab here holding her tight in to my chest making sure she doesn’t run in to the battle.
We were just standing there in silence, watching at the inevitable death of our parents that was coming. Elena still trembling in fear and tiers running down her cheeks.
About two more minutes pas as we both heard the sad and apologetic howls of our parents as they were to weak to fight on, and the final bullets shot in to them making there now lifeless wolf body’s fall to the ground.
As there howls rung in our ears Elenas legs gave in and now I was the only thing holding her up from the ground. As the gunshots dimes down and fades away silence once again takes over the place as nothing had ever happened. The occasional hunters groaning in pain form their injuries, and the blood drenched ground with probably close to 200 hunters scattered around was the only reminder of the battle that just want down.
A conversation started between 2 of the hunters standing in the middle of the battlefield, I sharpened my ears to listen to the conversation.
“General, we lost a lot of men, about 200 men. There are about 100 left standing, but to of the wolfs are dead” one of the hunters said.
“I can se that!” The general screamed in anger “What of the other to demons?” The venom clear in his voice.
“We have not spotted them yet, sir. But sir, many of our remaining men are getting worried about the mission. They are questioning if the mission was just made as a death mission, a mission at no one was meant to come back from”
“SHUT UP, do not question my orders, I want the last to demons now, I want the female captured. You can do what ever you want with the other one. I just want the female captured and weakened so it’s easier to handle.” He said growing more furious.
As I heard the purpose of the attack, and both me and my wolf started boiling with anger. Hunter was now pushing against me wanting to get out, as I unintentionally tightened my grip around Elena not noticing until she looked up at me and wimped in pain. Calming myself down before mind linking. “Sis, we need to go to the safe house they are already started looking for us”.
“No, we can’t. We can’t just leave mom and dad, we have to get them back to send them of property” her voice clearly still sad and depress.
Hearing her say that was reassuring for me it meant that se probably didn’t hear the conversation that just went down, and I am happy. She really doesn’t need more to worry about.
“I am so sorry sis, me need to get us to safety first”. She just stayed quiet as I started to pull her towards the opposite direction of where we came from, towards the safe house.
As we where walking towards the safe house I spotted one of the hunters in the distance slowing my breath and hiding behind a tree hoping he wouldn’t see us. Suddenly I spotted another one coming from the opposite direction. I quickly looked around me and noticed that we were surrounded by thirty plus hunters coming down from the trees. They where wearing dark green suites instead of the black ones from the battlefield, identifying them as another ground of hunters.
I knew something was off about this entire battle. I could probably easily fight all of them at the same time and win, but that would leave Ele on her own and in here conditions she is barley able to stand non the less fight.
I turn her towards me as the hunters are quickly approaching mind linking her. “Sis you need to shift, we need to get to the safe house”. No answer, no action. “Storm, Storm you need to take over we need to get out of her. Elena is to weak to do anything right now”. Her hazelnut brown eyes were flickering between purple and brown indicating the Storm was taking over and there skin turning to white fur as she shifted. At that I also shifted and we both run towards the safe house. Storm pasig herself to my top speed and staying ahead of me. Gunfire was once again heard as bullets were flying between us. Before we totally lost them I suddenly felt an excruciating pain in my left back paw and felt slightly dizzy. I ignored it to the best of my ability knowing that right now the only way we could survive was getting to the safe house. Knowing now how they were able to take down mom and dad. Wolfsbane. The bullets were both containing wolfsbane inside that is slowly seeping into my blood and coated in it, immediately weakening Hunter.
We ran for another 5 minutes temporarily losing the hunters and approaching our destination: the safe house. We were looking at a cliff side that had a deep cave just beside it. “Storm wait here I’m going to open it and you run in I’ll be right behind you”. I was beginning to feel the wolfsbanes full affect. Storm just nodded her wolf head up and down in approval as I jumped down in to the cave.
I came in to the cave walking towards the stone pillar in the center. From there I looked for the correct indented spot. I found it and pushed hard against it. Again sharpening my ears to listen to the sound of stone scratching against stone indicating that the door to the safe house was opening. I heard it and quickly ran back up and in to the safe house before the stone door could close behind me. I collapsed from exactions and pain just inside the safe house, and my vision slowly going dark.
