Liana
"Mom,I'm not wearing a sundress",. I hissed in frustration and tried to snatch the dress from her hands.
Well the keyword is 'tried to' but failed. It was light pink with floral pattern.
For the past hour,my mom has been trying to convince me, that I cannot wear hoodies and sweatshirts every where. 'A grown woman like you should have dresses in her closet' is what she was saying.
"Pick the blue one over there", I pointed, " I'm not wearing pink, no matter what you say", I finished with finalty.
She sighed muttering something that sounded like 'my strange daughter'. I smiled faintly at that.
We shopped and shopped. I even bought three sundresses just to see the satisfied smile on her face.
We were passing through the elevators, when one on the right opened and out came none other than.... Helios...
Shit..shit..shit..shit.
He was a eye candy as usual in his black close fitting trousers and a gray T-shirt.
He was on the phone with someone so taking his business as a blessing ,I started walking fast and darted inside a Timmy's café.
I looked behind and saw my mom entering the café with a small confused frown.
She must be thinking what happened to me all of a sudden.
Oooh well.
I smiled sheepishly. I can't tell her though, that a certain someone cannot see me.
He MUST not see me.
I've been avoiding him since that wretched party.
I told mom to sit, pointing towards the farthermost table. The walls of the café were of glass and totally see through. I trudged toward the counter and sneakily put my hood on. I was wearing dark blue hoodie with white shorts and sneakers. My curly hair in a messy bun atop my head.
God,I felt like a detective... Or a assassin.
I snorted at my thoughts and Ordered our drinks.
The rest of our time in the mall went smoothly. Without coming across a certain someone.
Mom bought dresses for herself and me. I bought few office attires and work shoes.
We then exited the mall and walked through the parking lot to my car. When I started the car, it wouldn't start. I looked at the fuel and cursed.
Due to the haste to get to the hospital this morning, then the shock of the reports afterwards. I forgot to fill up the tank. Great, fricking great.
I got off the car, signaling mom to do the same. I was calling the uber. Mom was leaning on the car. The whole commotion today has fairly tired her. Though she wouldn't say anything but I knew from the sweat that gleamed her on brow in this crisp autumn evening.
I was bent on my phone, when a pair of sneaker clad legs stopped in front of me. I raised my eyes to those long legs, lean waist, the wide shoulders and then finally those blue-gray eyes, the gray of his shirt making them infinitely deep.
And I sighed.
So much for hiding from him.
I raised my brow in a silent question.
"Hello, Liana", then his eyes slid to mom and widened, "Hello, Mrs Harrington", he said.
Mom had a amused expression on her face. She came beside me "It's Mrs Peters but you can call me Grace", she corrected. He had a confused expression but neither of us cleared it for him.
"Who is this, Lia?", mom asked, and from that wicked gleam in her eyes, I just knew she was matchmaking.
Uuh-huh, not a chance in hell.
"Steve's business partner", I said, looking at him with narrowed eyes.
" Helios Eaton ", he jutted out a hand for mom to shake. Mom shook his hand with a pleased smile.
Afrer a moment,
"We are friends too", he gestured towards me and then himself.
An arched brow. A silent question. Are we,now?
He held my stare.
"How'd you know it's my mom?", I asked suspiciously. For a moment,he seemed to be frozen on spot, his eyes wide, then, "you both look alike", he cleared.
But I had a tiny teensy suspicion that it was not the whole truth because we look nothing alike except our eyes.
"Your car seems disabled. I can give you a lift home", he offered, looking at mom now, as if he knew I would refuse without consideration.
That SOB
" No thanks, we will go by uber", I said anyways.
"Please, I insist", he said, still looking at mom, completely ignoring me.
Annoying, annoying SOB
"Lia,don't be stubborn. Mr Eaton is asking so nicely", she chastised and I looked at her incredulously.
"Please, call me Helios", he said with a winning, taunting smile towards me.
Which of course mom didn't see.
" I'll bring my car here", then, he marched to the other side of parking lot.
"He's such a gentleman", mom dreamily sighed.
" Mom!", I protested.
"Does he have a girlfriend?", ignoring my protest, she further asked. I gaped at her.
" I'm asking for you, stupid", mom said as if I was some mentally retarded being.
"What do you mean for me?", I asked," and no, I don't know about his girlfriend , may be he does", I said remembering that Natasha girl.
At just that moment, a shiny Range Rover stopped in front of us and he came out. Circling the car to open the passenger seat door.
He was wearing shades now and smirking.
That son of a biscuit.
I opened the backseat door and settled in. A little rebellion.
So mom sat on the front passenger seat and he closed the door. The engine roared to life.
Mom was naturally a chatty person. My total opposite. But today, her chattiness has amplified tenfold.
And never have I ever saw him saying so many words. He was even smiling. Both of them ignoring the grumpy person on the backseat.
But mom seemed happy. She was smiling and laughing her radiant laugh so I wasn't all that angry.
But things went bad when mom started telling him about my childhood stupidities.
That how I used to wait for my hogwarts letter and pretended to be a witch. How I disliked my classmates because they were all muggles.
How I looked for a door in my closet after reading chronicles of Narnia.
I was hissing for mom to shut up but she was totally ignoring me. Helios was laughing so hard, I feared he'd crash the car.
The painful, embarrassing ride finally came to an end when the Range Rover came to a halt at my apartment building.
But,
To my utter horror and misery, mom said, "Join us for dinner tommorow",
Before he could say anything, I launched into action and immediately said, " No mom, Mr Eaton is a busy man. Surely he'd have somewhere else to be", but again, to my utter despair, he said, "No, infact I'm free tommorow. I'll see you at 7", he even smiled a charming smile to mom and triumphant smirk was sent to me.
Prick
At night, when I lay down to sleep, it occurred to me, that I never gave him any directions to my apartment and neither did he asked.
