Brielle I still didn't sleep. Instead, I ran through different backup plans, a habit Aldric had drilled into me a long time ago: “Always have three good backup plans.” Plan one was to find another way to get Aldric released. My connections were limited, but I'd been building them slowly, and there were two camp officials I'd made a good impression on already. Plan two was to stall and keep Aldric in custody for now, where at least he was safe and accounted for until I understood who had filed the complaint in the first place.
