The Nigerian Coup

The first Nigerian Coup took place in 1966 January a little bit after we gained independence in 1960. The was led by Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu and Emmanuel Ifeanimal and 22 people were killed.   Later, the coup was hijacked by Major General Johnson Aguiyi-ironis and he then became the first military head of state . He was then over throned by General Yakubu Gowon. Gowon  created some states in Nigeria . He was over throned by Murtala Muhammad who was the brother of will Muhammad. When Yakubu Gowon heard that he has been over throned , he plotted with Bukasukaduka to kill him which de did , but unfortunate for him he did not retain his position as the Head of State but Murtala Muhammad was replaced by Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo give up the post as the Head of  State for an Executive President name Shau Shangri. The benefits of an executive president comes as follow 1. Freedom of the press 2. Implementation not human rights 3. No fear of insecurities etc. This benefits were not provided by the Head of state. Shau Shangri was murder in a coup led by Muhammadu Bihari who was later over throned by IBB in a palace coup. IBB said he wanted a general election and that election was between him and MKO Abiola . IBB declared himself the winner when he found out that MKO was winning. He had the power to do so cause he was the Head of State at . IBB was over throned by Abasha who died mysteriously. After his death, the country was then and still is been headed by the executive president
