Distraction I stopped in at home to change and grab my surfboard on the way to the beach. Stepping inside, into the place where I felt a welcoming freedom, I would almost always feel a sense of peace. But as soon as I had closed the front door behind me, darker memories suddenly came rushing back as if trying to torment any recent happiness. It was so overpowering to feel the weight of the struggles that I had gone through, even a few years on now, that I had a sudden urge to just run away. So I did.
