The ride to mountain was not half as far as Siin thought it would be. Though the terrains of the road were very much rough and sandy. The bikeman who was well accustomed to the terrains of the area, didn't find it too difficult to manouver the terrains and arrive at the paid destination in time, making it clear for s
Siin to See that the ten thousand francs he paid for was for his risk allowance and not the cost of the kilometers covered or the roughnes of the terrains.
" This palm tree here is my last bus stop. Follow the smoke up there . It's always burning. It's been burning for a thousand years at least so the legends say. It would lead you to the Chambers of the chief priestess. You should be there in less than twenty minutes if you have the legs for it." Said the biker as he packed his bike under a palm tree.
" Good. I don't hope to waste much time up there. But please if ,just in case things don't go as I plan, and I don't come back early. Don't make the mistake of leaving me behind. You must wait for me at all cost." Said Siin with an ease that gave the biker some shrills in his spine.
" Noted sir. I will be here waiting for you even if it reaches the sunset. I am a man of my words." Said the bikeman and quickly picked out his cigarettes as if though his life depended on smoking it.
" What if I stay beyond the sunset.? " Said Siin with an air of majesty.
" Then I'm sorry sir. I would have to abandon you and take my leave. " Said the bikeman, giving more importance to the cigarettes he had ignited, than the conversation he was servicing with Siin.
" Then we have a deal." Said Siin and headed straight for the mountain feeling confident that the biker would not abondon him.
The walk to the top of the mountain was quite strenuous to even the standards of Siin as someone who had gone through major hardships in life. The terrains were rough and at some points in the journey when the altitude was high , he felt as if though he was suffocating due to absence of oxygen in the space above. But soon his metabolism got accustomed to the sudden change in climate he was back to breathing normal. He had followed the smoke as directed by the Biker and he was almost at the origin of the smoke, which was a cluster of large huts built in rather different shapes but all of magnanimous shapes. There had not been a sign of a human since he had left the bikeman at the foot of the mountain untill he came close to the cluster of hurts where he found a small gathering of old women sitting around a fire. Siin found it rather shocking that women would sit around a fire when it was not even sunset. They encirlcled the inferno Singing almost in whispers as their bodies seemed to sway clandestinely as if though they were mimicking the movements of the flames.
Siin was still for a while. Not out of fear but rather from a dire need to understand whatever it was that he was seeing. It was longer than never that a young man who seemed to have been engulfed by the boiling broath he was stirring in a clay pot , caught a smell of Siin and raised his head up with immediate speed.
" Who are you young man." Said the young servent who had thick and unkempt dreadlocks with an abundance of melanin in his skin which made his skin as black as charcoal with the exception of his eyes and teeth.
" I am here to see the chief priestess." Said Siin and approached the young servant without an ounce of fear in his heart.
" Be still right there before I skewer you alive." Said the infuriated servant and pulled out a steel sword from a sword pack that hung on his back which Siin had not saw earlier. The sight of the sword made gave Siin a cause to worry and he halted his steps to see if really the young servant was just a wild beast with a sense of reasononing who was just out for blood or he was a local huntsman who he could talk reasonably with.
" Invader.! Invader shouted the young servant who wore nothing but a the skin of a goat over her loins. He rushed towards Siin with the Sword in his hand. At that point Siin knew that talking was a waste of time and if the consequences of talking could be bad for him , the consequences of running would be worse as it left his back exposed and the servant was moving as fast a hare. He quickly enacted his legs to establish a stance that gave him a better balance and just when The servant was about delivering his fatal blow with the Sword, Siin grabbed him by wrists with one and hand and by ribs with the other hand before propelling him up into the air air. The young servant landed with a thud on the rocky surface and Siin was shocked to see him get up in a flash as if though he had landed on a sofa. Feeling even more infuriated, the Young servant, charged at Siin and this time Siin was not in a good balance to wade off the attacker as he posed anyway, expecting the worse.
" Jango stop that. Don't be rude to strangers. How many would I caution you." Said swift Voice which was not recognized by Siin , but pleased his heart for saving his Life.
" But ma. He is a intruder. " Said Jango as gnawed his teeth in rage of not being able to struck down Siin.
" Get lost and return to stirring the broath." Said the Lady , who was elderly woman in her late serventies. She held on to a long staff , not for support and neither for fashion , but to reflect the position she occupied amidst her people and the power she possessed. Jango wanted no further second to abondon his plans for Siin. He rushed straight back to the boiling broath and began to stirr it as it boiled.
