A taste of fame

The atmosphere was very much conducive as the silver rays  of the moon generously adorned  the gathering. 

"Ladies and gentlemen. Please Say a very big thank you to this young lad whose skill full hands had saved the heir to Sheikh Shagori and kept him alive amidst the freezing weather conditions. Indeed we are blessed with a Messiah. I must also use this medium to publicly commend Doctor Siin who had successfully carried out a hyper complex vascular operation on an esteemed patient who is in good shape. This is the first time a doctor in this facility is carrying out such a sensitive theater session without recording casualties." Said Doctor Allen in tone that was full of excitement and gratitude. His words and the presence of Siin made the crowd Cheer and clap louder than they ever did. Deep down it was the extra Salary promised to them by the sheikh and also the notion of beholding their employment, that made them happy the most. All Siin could do is wave back at them and said thank you to the hundred of praises he had received.

" Lastly but not the least. I will like us to bid farewell to one of our finest staffs in person of Miss Ramlah Atid, who is a nurse under the paramedic team. As you all know, life is journey and it takes people to different locations of the world. Here , we are always happy when our staffs get promoted to bigger organisations or when they secure a better job that is ethical in all ramifications. We hereby say a big congratulations to Ramlah who has secured a job as private nurse in a limited organisation. Of all your great qualities that would be missed, it's your selflessness in the face of saving lives , that we all shall miss the most . We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Please become nothing but an amiable ambassador of intergrity and empathy to this facility. " Said Doctor Allen as he focused his gaze on a smiling Ramlah face ,that had nothing to show but gratitude.

" Every should head back to his or her duty post and perform your duties to the best of your knowledge. May the good Lord bless us all." Said Doctor Allen and ushered both himself and Siin down from the podium.

Siin was still busy replying greetings and taking handshakes from well wishers and admirers. When he heard a piercing voice call his name from a distance away.

He turned and saw it was Ramlah who had stood smiling profusely at him. For a while Siin was mute as he sampled the beauty of Ramlahs smile and the perfection of her height. He quickly got a hold of himself and spoke.

" Good evening Miss Ramlah. I haven't seen you since yersterday. I wanted to be the first to congratulate you. " Said Siin after quickly excusing himself from his admirers and headed towards Ramlah who stood smiling happily at her referer.

" I owe it all to you . Forgive my negligence, I ought to have found you since too thank you for what you did. I couldn't believe a stranger would vouch Soo much for me and change my life like this . I'm very grateful to you Siin thank you very much. " Said Ramlah as the two of them walked slowly around facility which was serenaded by the silver rays of the luminous moon.

" No need to mention my dear. I wish you all the best on your new job. I also heard you are resuming tommorow. " Said Siin as they walked through the quiet roads of the facility that led to the back gate.

" Yes Doctor Siin. The baby can't go on for long without a mother. The Sheikh is very much explicit in showing his love and affection for the child and he has asked me to do the same. By tommorow morning the child would be discharged from the facilities as medical check ups have shown that he is fit and ready to take on the world.

" Said Ramlah who was caught dotting at Siin like, by Siin himself.

" Then it seems motherhood comes early for you ." Said Siin with a teasing giggle.

" Oh mine ." She giggled softly and continued, " this is not actually motherhood. It's more like a foster mother hood if anything like that exist in the dictionaries." She said and laughed softly in a modest fashion.

" As long as the term mother hood comes in, we could heartily toast our invisible tumblers to mother . " Said Siin as he elevated his hands towards kaltumi as if to make a cheers.

" Well ofcourse, to motherhood." Said Ramlah and elevated her hands to establish their chess with their imaginary tumbler.

" Doctor Siin. Congratulations to as well . It's rather sad that I will not be around to witness the full magnitude of potentials." Said Ramlah as her smile faded away.

" Thank you very much Ramlah. I feel flattered by your comments. However I'm just a tool of benevolence from a supreme being thus I give to them all the glory. " Said Siin in a voice that lacked much seriousness in it.

" You are a scarce vessel then. Please take good care of yourself while I'm gone. I won't be around to stitch you up. " Said Ramlah as her smile returned.

" I sure will my dear . I totally will. That reminds me . I will be having a meeting with the Sheikh tommorow. I will have to delibrate on what favor to ask him. And that may take me the whole night to arrive at." Said Siin with a Knowing smile.

" But why me .? Why did you choose to refer me to the Sheikh. Why didn't you refer any else. " Said Ramlah with an emotional smile on her face.

" Your palm, your shoes . I know you need money. Your soles of your shoes are worn out. Your palm and fingers looked quite rough ,just like mine hear. You smile through the pain and burden in your mind. I do the same. I believe you are from a humble background with lots of challenges. My parents where never rich either. You don't hide who you are , you militate against it, that's what caught my attention. I do not mean to mock you neither do I mean to pose as a benefactor. If there's anyone you want to thank for getting you the job. You should thank your old shoes for staying loyal beneath you and you should thank your bruised palms for always reminding you of your starting point and journey so far. You see now my deer it's nothing personal. I will have to take my leave now. "Said Siin in cordial manner that oozed of Majesty.

" I feel a little embarrassed standing here and listening to you say all these things. I will go on my knees a thousand time to thank my shoes and my rough palms for catching your attention. I and my struggling family are very grateful to your kind gesture towards us." Said Ramlah with an emotion filled smile that displayed nothing but love towards Siin.

" Take care of my baby brother . We are all family now . " Said Siin and turned to take his leave.

" Thank you Doctor Siin. My words fail me to convey my gratitude. I will always be indebted to you. " Said Ramalah who could no Longer hold in the adrenaline rush that stormed her senses. She ran to Siin and gave him an impromptu hug from the back as the sides of her face rested peacefully between his upper back. Siins reaction was neither of shock or of joy. H was indifferent to her touch and stood still fore a short moment before breaking the Silence.

"Ramlah. Take good care of yourself . Go home now before it's gets too dark. ' said Siin , still backing her.

" See you soon. I'm sorry I get emotional quite easily." She said and wiped the tears formation off her eyes with the sides of her palm. She could fathom what it was about Siin that was brewing a storm of love in her mind, but she knew for sure that his Kindness towards her was the major elements. Other factors like intelligence , being tall and having good looks were all secondary to her. She bade him one final goodbye for the night and headed straight to the bustom to catch a taxi to take her home.
