The moon-wolf charges. Its massive form blurs across the silver bridge, fur blazing like a wildfire made of starlight. The heat from its breath slams into my face. The air warps around its jaws. Its paws strike the bridge with enough force to send vibrations rippling through the long stretch of silver beneath us. There is no time to think. My body reacts before I can breathe. I shift instantly. My bones snap in a flash of heat. Fur bursts across my skin. My claws tear from my paws as momentum carries me forward.
